mlns='> Stories work for internal audiences, too. [View Message in Browser]( / [Add Us to Safe Sender List]( [Content Marketing Institute]( [Content Marketing Institute]( Daily News and Alert 9.23.24 Connect with CMI Hi there, One of the best storytellers I’ve ever worked with was the VP of marketing at a tech company. She wasn’t the kind of natural-born storyteller who effortlessly regales people in social gatherings. She worked for her stories — and made them work for her. Before presenting quarterly results to the CEO, she dug into the why behind the numbers and the “therefore” she recommended. She never left interpretation up to the execs — she guided them to her take. She took the same approach to steering the team. Before setting goals, she’d weave a tale about the why behind what we needed to achieve. She’d encourage us to think in stories about how we’d get there. And I know we all felt more inspired to achieve than if she’d simply presented a set of targets to hit. That VP taught me that the stories we tell within the organization are every bit as important as the ones we tell our external audiences. [Today’s article]( offers some great pointers on how to make those internal, data-driven stories even more effective. Do you use storytelling to persuade or motivate your leaders and team members?
