The Independent's Morning Headlines email [View online]( April 26, 2022 [Morning Headlines]( 1 / [Twitter founder Jack Dorsey hails Elon Musk's takeover as 'solution' to social media platform's problems]( Following the announcement that Twitter has reached an agreement to sell the company to Elon Musk for around $44bn, the platform's former chief and co-founder Jack Dorsey has called the takeover by the Tesla billionaire the "singular solution" he trusts. The deal was announced by the social media platform on Monday after days of negotiations between the world's richest person and the Twitter board. Elon Musk will pay $54.20 cash per share for the San Fransisco-based company, which will now be taken private. Greeting the news, Musk simply tweeted "Yes!!!", surrounded by red hearts, shooting stars and rocket ship emojis. In a statement, Musk said he wanted to make Twitter "better than ever", calling the platform a "digital town square where matters vital to the future of humanity are debated." Jack Dorsey said he wanted Twitter to be a "public good at a protocol level, not a company." But added: "Solving for the problem of it being a company however, Elon is the singular solution I trust.
