Check out an excerpt below, then [head here to read the full interview.]( So much of how people, especially young people, are accessing entertainment these days is through mediums like tablets and phones. For obvious reasons, we here at IMAX are a little biased towards the biggest screens out there. What would you say to someone on the fence about taking their family to experience THE WILD ROBOT on the big screen? Absolutely. Itâs something Iâve heard with other films, but it could not be more true than with THE WILD ROBOT. Officially, this film is like nothing they will ever see again. It is absolutely groundbreaking, and the scale is part of the experience. If they go see this on a big screen, they will not regret it.  They will be very thankful for that. Part of the power of the experience is the scale of the whole thing, and not just the visuals, but the sound. Kris Bowerâs score for this film is like nothing Iâve ever heard before. He blew the doors off of the score. As we went to the mix it just got bigger and bigger and bigger and and more more sweeping. So not just for the visuals, I would say, but for the sound, too, seek this out in the theater. Can you talk a little bit about how you got started? Do you have any advice for young fans who hope to work in the animation space? Oh wow. The most important thing, Iâd say is âfollow your talentâ. I wasnât much of an animator. I tried, and I can do it, but Iâm not really very good at it, I donât think. Iâm good enough, but not good enough. [laughs] Iâve really gravitated more towards story, because I think thatâs where my skill set really was and that worked very well for me. I went to the story departments, and I was with the story crews and I learned about what goes into crafting and shaping these narratives. I donât think I would have been very good as an animator, so my first advice is following your talent.  If you feel like youâre more of a layout artist or an animator, go with that, follow your talent. Thereâs no secret to how you get into these studios. At Comic-Con, somebody approached me and said âso how do I do this?â It kind of feels like they want me to tell them a secret, like âwell, if you go to a certain lamp post at midnight on October 15th and say these words a portal will open and youâre going to get into the studio.â  The fact is, itâs pretty straightforward. A lot of times, itâs submitting a portfolio, showing them your work, and thatâs how I got in. Thatâs how everybody I know got into it. Whatever your craft is, a studio will have a way of showing you what you need to do. A lot of times itâs a portfolio.  Thereâs no secret. Itâs all about honing your skills and getting to a point where the studio would like to hire you.  â FLY AWAY WITH US Based on the New York Times #1 Bestseller by Peter Brown, Dreamworks' THE WILD ROBOT is an animated epic that must be experienced in IMAX. Featuring a star-studded cast including Lupita Nyong'o, Pedro Pascal, and Kit Connor, it's a sweeping, emotional, uplifting story sure to delight cinephiles of all ages. â IMAX® is a registered trademark of IMAX Corporation [Twitter]( [Facebook]( [Instagram]( [TikTok]( [Letterboxd]( [unsubscribe]()
