. --------------------------------------------------------------- 🛬 The Cobra DARKSPEED Drive

[Hypegolf] January 18, 2024 Weekly Digest ✍️ Malbon Golf Signs 3 More Professional Golfers TLDR: The golf world was barely finished debating Jason Day's roomy pants when Malbon Golf announced its next batch of signings. The brand with the Buckets logo has now signed the world's 8th ranked player Charley Hull and the enigmatic it boy of his generation, Jesper Parnevik. Why It Matters: It can't be overstated how much having three world class players as part of the Malbon brand means to other up-and-comers like Metalwood Studio, Students, Quiet Golf, MANORS and others. Only a few years ago it was hard to find anyone not wearing one of the big brands like Nike, adidas and FootJoy, but the balance of power is shifting in a big way. The questions now becomes, which will be the next brand to reach the size of a Malbon? Like other manufacturers, there are three segments of performance: low spin, forgiveness, and a mix of the two. Keep an eye out over the coming weeks for our review. Why It Matters: While 10K MOI (a number that measures the forgiveness of a club) has become the industry's favorite buzzward this season, Cobra's new DARKSPEED drivers are more focused on adjustability. The MAX model can be set up close to 10K, but it can also adjusted to suit the evolving needs of a golfer as they (ideally) get better. Also, the DARKSPEED drivers have a strong early case for being the best looking clubs of the year. What we found was a woman who is no stranger to setting her own path or taking a stand on relevant issues. We also asked Charley what appeals to her about the brand and her expectations for 2024. Why It Matters: Charley Hull may not be a household name among casual golf followers, but such is the nature of the sport compared with other news makers. The reality is that there are only seven female golfers ranked higher than her, and after a successful 2023 season the 27-year-old has a unique opportunity to increase her exposure while cultivating an image which resonates with fashion folk. Naturally, many took it as an opportunity to comment on Bieber's golf prowess or lack thereof. Why It Matters: We love to see our guy Justin Bieber finding the same enjoyment in the game that everyone does. And it may sound didactic, but having people like Bieber or DJ Khaled sharing the game with their followers does wonders to shift its perspective. But will Bieber begin showing face at pro-ams and brand outings this year? That's still hard to imagine given his preference for keeping his personal time personal. The black on black Qi10 standard version will likely be the biggest seller, but a red version adds some flare as well. The Qi10 Max, which offers golfers more forgiveness, is being offered in yellow or blue. Why It Matters: Why would TaylorMade release new colors of its 2024 driver so soon after pre-order began for the standard version? That's the question that keeps playing in our heads. If a blackout version of the Qi10 already exists, one has to assume TaylorMade has more adventurous plans for later in the season. Perhaps seasonal themed clubs for the four majors? Perhaps a Tiger Woods edition? That would surely be a big hit.
