[Hypebeast] September 26, 2024 Weekly Digest 😎 Nike x NIGO Officially Announce First-Ever Partnership TLDR: NIGO and Nike have officially announced their long-awaited debut partnership, which is kicking off with the duo’s collaborative Air Force 3 Low silhouette – “Blue Void” – as well as a line of apparel. Why It Matters: “Nike truly has many masterpieces. The AF3 is a hidden masterpiece that I remember loving at the time. Through my first collaboration with Nike, I want to reintroduce everyone to its magnificence,” NIGO noted in a statement. The Air Force 3 Low “Blue Void” makes reference to some of NIGO’s favorite films and television shows across its design, and, per a press release, future releases from the duo will continue to point to NIGO’s rolodex of cultural inspiration. The “Blue Void” features an upper crafted from a mixture of embossed leathers, with a rubber outsole, midsole foam and graphic hits on the tongue and heel. Why It Matters: The video gives fans a glimpse of the collaboration fronted by graffiti artist Neck Face in the Johnny Wilson-directed visual. With a spray paint can in hand, Neck Face is joined by Supreme’s Rowan Zorilla, Kevin Bradley, Ben Kadow, Troy Gipson, Vince Palmer, Casper Brooker and Stu Graham as they shred though the U.K. and Scotland wearing the latest drop. The latest in the label’s captivating lineup of collaborations is the “Inferno” capsule, crafted in partnership with Tekken 8. Why It Matters: Inspired by Devil Kazuya’s horns, Gentle Monster x Tekken 8’s “Inferno” design takes a silver goggled shape – and comes encased in a glove-like enclosure, inspired by Kazuya’s signature red gloves. Horn-like details pop up throughout the structural frames, with the lenses taking a red, mirrored design. Kazuya’s horns continue to reign in influence over the temples of the glasses as well, which have a black, layered, leather-looking structure.
