Ă°ÂÂÂą The Biggest Announcements at Appleâs WWDC 2024 TLDR: All eyes were on Apple as the company held its yearly Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) and Tim Cook spoke to Hypebeast about the new âApple Intelligenceâ in an exclusive interview. Why It Matters: CEO Tim Cook told Hypebeast that he thinks Apple Intelligence âis going to be in all industries, because all of us want a personal assistant.â âI think the number of use cases people have is going to be enormous. Itâs so personal to them that thereâs no better assistant,â he added. A major selling point of Apple Intelligence, compared to other AI systems, is Appleâs focus on protecting userâs personal content. As privacy within AI remains a hot debate in the broader tech industry, Cook stresses that Apple Intelligence stands out amid the crowd for its personal yet secure approach. ð€ Supreme x Vans Summer 2024 Collaboration TLDR: Supreme is back with another collaborative drop, this week. Focusing on footwear, Supreme returns to Vans, building on their longstanding partnership. Why It Matters: This is not the first time Supreme has collaborated with Vans. Ă°ÂÂÂș The Holy Trinity of Vintage Grails: Fantasy Explosion, Intramural Shop, and Leisure Centre TLDR: This is how the three New York businesses have redrawn the borders of selling vintage menswear and carried the torch lit by Brian Procell. Why It Matters: The three say the vintage hustle isnât that different from when they started reselling. Itâs still about finding old stock and curating it. The difference now is that itâs also about producing new clothes that play off nostalgic designs, like Leisure Centre making its own DJ Screw hats. Or Fantasy Explosion bootlegging and reprinting rarities that have long since vanished, such as an obscure Porsche Racing t-shirt. Call it vintage 2.0, where the line between previously-owned clothing and new releases that use bygone imagery and appropriated reference points have blurred. 𧔠5 Parsons Fashion Design Graduates to Know TLDR: Naturally, Parsonsâ BFA runway shows are closely examined by industry insiders; and this yearâs iteration was the schoolâs largest one yet. Why It Matters: Standouts included Qianyi Liu, whose nostalgic, doll-like designs are the result of experimental textile collaging, and Angie Zhang, a shapeshifter transforming traditional formalwear with clean concepts that prioritize wearability. Another one to watch is Diego McElroyâs brand Pretty Ballads, which exists as an âend-to-end modular clothing systemâ made entirely from zip-on, zip-off deadstock textiles. Jada Chen, meanwhile, references William Shakespeareâs The Tempest, while crafting fashion that juxtaposes brutalist architecture and delicate drapes. Skye Wilson, on the other hand, challenges binary style tropes with code-fusing silhouettes worn by anonymous models.
