My main car is a BMW 330e and I have a Mercedes SLK for summer use doing no more than 2000 miles a year. In one case LV said they were doing me a favour, long standing customer as they no longer insure anyone over 80. Can they do this and are their any companies which take into account one’s experience and fitness to drive rather than relying on a algorithm? Questions are asked about access to other vehicles. If you have access this usually implies that mobility is not totally compromised and you don't need a courtesy vehicle. I have absolutely no need of a courtesy car but can't find how to remove it and the presumed cost element from the quote. I'm looking to minimise insurance costs on a vehicle used almost solely for caravan towing and is used for less than 3000 miles a year. Last year's premium was £358 but the latest quote is in excess of £670. Were you aware they wore out? Dear Watch Member, Keyless vehicles are often targeted by criminals using signal relay equipment, which can pick up the fob’s signal from outside a home and use it to unlock and start vehicles without physically having the key. Using a signal blocking pouch, such as a Faraday bag, or storing your key fob and any spare keys in a metal box can help prevent the equipment from working effectively. If you can, turn off the wireless signals on your fob when not in use and ensure that keys are kept as far away from vehicles as possible. Faraday pouches only last for a few months so keep key fobs in an aluminium box or line a small box with aluminium foil. I heard a scream and my wife shouting. I could hear the horn blowing and see lights flashing but the engine was not, I got my keys and went to the car, the flashing had stopped. I opened the door with the fob and tried everything and all was OK. It was parked and in Park, the only time that anything like this had happened was two years ago when the car was parked outside my house. It was a very hot day and the horn started blowing and lights flashing, when I opened the door on the fob it all stopped. How can this happen? My wife is frightened to be left sitting in the car, she thought it was going to crash into the porch she was sitting in.
