Justin Lin's shock exit from the tenth installment of the Fast & Furious franchise, days into shooting, left Universal and the producers scrambling for a replacement and all of Hollywood wondering what happened. A draft opinion circulated among Supreme Court justices suggests that earlier this year a majority of them had thrown support behind overturning the 1973 case Roe v. Wade that legalized abortion nationwide, according to a report published Monday night in Politico. It’s unclear if the draft represents the court’s final word on the matter. [The story.]( —A right royal snub. A newly parsimonious Netflix is scrapping Pearl, an animated series created by Meghan Markle. The series, about a young girl inspired by influential women in history, was the second project to stem from Prince Harry and the Duchess of Sussex's overall deal with Netflix, and was originally put in development in July 2021. Pearl becomes the third animated kids’ project to be axed before its debut at the streamer. [The story.]( —Leaning on the hitmakers. Despite the cutbacks, Netflix has handed out an eight-episode series order to Obliterated, an action-comedy from the creators of Cobra Kai. The show was previously picked up by TBS with a straight-to-series order in 2019 only to be dropped a few years ago. The Netflix order for Obliterated, from exec producers/showrunners Jon Hurwitz, Hayden Schlossberg and Josh Heald, is for eight, 45-minute episodes. [The story.]( Met Gala: All the Details on Red-Carpet Arrivals and Exhibition ►Fashion's big night. The 2022 Met Gala took place on Monday night and stars from music, TV, film, politics and sport drew on the inspiration of the Gilded Age to don outfits that ranged from jaw-dropping to outlandish to comical. Blake Lively, Ryan Reynolds, Regina King and Lin-Manuel Miranda served as the event's co-hosts, while Martin Scorsese, Sofia Coppola, Tom Ford and Chloé Zhao conceptualized vignettes for the Costume Institute's latest show. Paramount Global added 6.3 million streaming subscribers worldwide in Q1 to top the 62.0 million mark as of the end of March, up from more than 56.0 million as of the end of 2021. The company also detailed that Paramount+ grew to “almost 40 million” subscribers from 32.8 million as of the end of December. Its disclosure of 6.8 million new subscriber additions at Paramount+ would put the flagship streamer at 39.6 million. [The results.]( —The mayhem continues.
