TeamCow's top tips for staying vegan post-Veganuary. Welcome to Consult the Cow, where we answer you

TeamCow's top tips for staying vegan post-Veganuary. [View this email in your browser]( [HappyCow]( [Consult the Cow]( Welcome to Consult the Cow, where we answer your burning questions on all things vegan dining and travel. This month's question comes from Anonymous. [Dear TeamCow] Dear TeamCow, I went vegan for Veganuary this year, and honestly it felt so great that I plan on staying vegan for good 🥰 Do you have any tips on keeping that vegan momentum going now that Veganuary is over? Sincerely, Anonymous [Dear Anonymous] Dear Anonymous, Good on you for joining the vegan side! We know it isn’t always easy, but we’ve been so encouraged by how many people have been taking an interest in the plant-based life. And, of course, we’re more than happy to help keep the moo-vement going! Here are some of our tips 📝 DON'T FORGET YOUR WHY [Vegan for the animals, planet, health] People go vegan for different reasons. Some will say it's because they want to reduce animal suffering and see an end to animal agriculture, but others make the switch to help the environment or improve their health. No matter the reason, keep it at the forefront of your mind. If you start to feel yourself falter, that's okay! You may even make mistakes. Don't beat yourself up over it. Just take a deep breath and remember why you made this change in the first place. It may even help to check out a [documentary or two]( to put things back into perspective. At the end of the day, your why is what will keep you centered on your vegan journey 💜 TRY NEW PLANT-BASED RECIPES & DISHES There's an old saying in the moo-vement: anything you can eat, I can eat vegan! Many new vegans struggle with finding the right food to eat because they suddenly can't have their favorite dishes that are traditionally meat- or dairy-based. Luckily, there's a vegan recipe for just about any dish you already love or would like to try...and if there isn't a recipe that you find suitable, you can probably find a product at the store instead! [OMNI is now at Albertsons]( Whether you have a [sweet tooth]( or a taste for something [savory]( consider yourself a [junk food]( vegan or prefer eating a bit [healthier]( there are so many options out there, you're bound to find some you really enjoy 🌱 SUPPORT VEGAN RESTAURANTS This one might seem like a no-brainer, but now more than ever, vegan restaurants need our support. Yes, the vegan-friendliness across the world is on the rise, but fully vegan businesses are actually decreasing in some areas. We found this to be the case in our 2024 report on the [Top 10 Vegan-Friendly Cities]( where we saw London, for example, experiencing a 22% decrease in total vegan businesses since our previous report. In fact, across all 10 cities, while we saw a consistent rise in vegan-friendly listings (+31%), the average growth in the number of fully vegan listings was a modest 4%. [READ OUR REPORT]( [Ravioli from Pastan]( Every week, we see vegan businesses closing. Worse, some are starting to introduce non-vegan dishes to their menu in hopes to appeal to a larger group of diners and stay open…but even that doesn’t work, and this move alienates its dedicated plant-based diners. Needless to say, we're sad to see this happen. While we understand not every city has a vegan restaurant, we think it's important to support the ones that do as much as possible! And with every vegan spot that you visit, don't forget to take lots of pics and leave a review on HappyCow! This is a great way to give them some additional visibility for people searching for vegan food. The more we dine at fully vegan establishments, the more clear it is that veganism is strong 💪 [FIND A VEGAN RESTAURANT NEAR YOU]( How do you stay motivated as a vegan? Reply with your top tips!
