A rundown of our latest evaluation. [View this email in your browser]( [HappyCow]( [Top 10 Vegan-Friendly Cities in the World, 2022]( Happy World Vegan Day! Today is our favorite day of the year. In its honor, we're releasing the 2022 edition of HappyCow’s Top 10 Vegan-Friendly Cities List 🌎 This is our first time the releasing the report since 2019. Despite some setbacks in the vegan community over these past few years, the growth of vegan restaurants worldwide is now rebounding past pre-pandemic numbers. There have been some changes to cities on the list, while others have managed to hold their ground. When determining how vegan-friendly a city is, we consider the following: 1. The number of fully vegan restaurants within a 10 km radius from each city center 2. The number of fully vegan businesses (including shops, bakeries, etc.) 3. The number of all restaurants (vegan, vegetarian, veg-friendly) in the radius 4. The density of vegan businesses per capita 5. The growth of vegan businesses since last report 6. Qualitative evaluation from TeamCow, Ambassadors, and the Cowmunity including how easy it is to find vegan options, how well veganism is understood, and how active the vegan community is, among other factors. Which cities made the list? We’ve seen a 74% growth in the vegan scene in Barcelona over a three-year span - a very promising development given Spain’s meat-heavy cuisine. Warsaw is one of the rare cities where, according to the data, veganism has had an edge over vegetarianism for many years now! Amsterdam is one of the fastest-growing cities in terms of vegan-friendliness, with a striking 78% growth in just a three-year span. With a 58% increase in vegan restaurants in Bangkok over three years, the “Land of Smiles” will put a smile on any vegan’s face! Los Angeles is a vegan mecca, boasting 106 fully vegan restaurants in a ten-square-kilometer area—that’s double of what it was three years ago! Want to see who came in first? [Check out the full list.]( Don’t miss the notable runners-up listed at the end. Did your city make the cut? If not, there’s always next year! Psst: here’s a newsletter-exclusive tip on rising top cities to watch: South America’s Buenos Aires and Bogota, Asia’s Hanoi and Tokyo, North America’s Chicago and Vancouver, Europe’s Lisbon and Madrid, and Africa’s Marrakech are all notably on the rise. Let’s celebrate World Vegan Day by planning our future adventures to these amazing cities, while sharing with friends & family!
