A man in a beanie leans on a scooter while checking his phone, 2 marketers review sales figures on a laptop, & a woman scrolls messages as she reclines on top of a plaid blanket on a couch. ] [[ Welcome to The Insighter, a monthly brief that pairs fresh consumer and marketing insights with an action plan for growth. We’ll explore a new topic each month. THE INSIGHT Relevance yields value for customers and drives value for businesses. Your customers can’t afford to make the wrong choice. In today’s competitive landscape, it’s more important than ever to connect with your most valuable prospects. Let’s dive in. - Consumers consider many brands; few make their short lists. Consumers who fill out a lead form or make a purchase consider 4.3 brands at the start of their journey, but only 1.8 by the end. - They prioritize relevance over personalization. Consumers place more importance on brand interactions that are relevant to their needs or past behaviors than on comparable interactions that are personalized with their name or personal details (33% versus 20%). - Relevance has three key components. The top three characteristics that consumers look for when determining if a product or service is relevant to them are quality (53%), desired benefits or features (47%), and value (47%). - Relevance drives results. U.S. advertisers who optimize their digital campaigns for high-value leads do so to increase conversions (53%) and ROI (47%). - Google can help. Seventy-three percent of those U.S. advertisers say Google outperforms social platforms in driving high-quality leads. Its growth marketing team focuses on acquiring high-value employers efficiently by bidding toward their lifetime value — a complex challenge due to the unique dynamics of the global job market and the need to operate at scale. By using value-based bidding and Performance Max, Indeed was able to identify behavioral cues that distinguished segments of more profitable customers, and then invest in them. As a result, the company saw a 30% lift in return on ad spend and a 50% lift in conversions.
