So, you got some great feedback from a client. You can already see how you'll proudly display it on your website. Not so fast. Did you know that there are two types of great customer feedback that could HARM you? True story. 2 types of great customer feedback you should NOT put on your website 1) Vague praise It was the best workshop I've ever attended. I can't recommend Anna enough. James was a big hit. The best why? Because of the free buffet? Recommend as what, my new best friend? A big hit where, at "America's Got Talent"? #mysteryOfTheCentury 🤷 Could we pleeeease agree that you should never include stuff on your website that prospects can't imagine? Great. Moving on. 2) Praise that contains counter-intuitive benefits Sometimes, your clients discover additional value of your products or services they haven't anticipated. And they can only understand that it's a true benefit after they hired you / bought from you. Like it happened to a client of mine, a leadership development coach who conducted a workshop for a big international law firm teaching their lawyers to manage stress better. She wrote to me asking if we could incorporate this feedback she got from her client about the workshop on her website: Your workshop moved the participants (and these were cynical lawyers we are talking about) so much so that they were nearly in tears at one point. Because we've been working together for years and I know her offers in and out, I totally understand how this feedback is a big complement to my client's workshop. There, serious corporate lawyers who have to maintain their poker face at all times get to be vulnerable human beings again, which are seen, understood, and accepted as they are. But including this on her website? No way. Njet. Auf gar keinen Fall. Why? Because "having my lawyer team in tears" is not on the list of results a manager of a big international law firm - or any law firm of any size, really - is looking to achieve. (Unless the manager in question is really mad at them and wants them to suffer as revenge. But that's a totally different story.) Basically, it's the case for the same old ["Said no prospect ever" test](=.Z4XHB21VksSIWVfnuXaGiqZBOIoG_exzFvdAep1WCYU): "I wish I could get someone to conduct a workshop that will move your lawyer team to tears." ...said no prospects ever. So, you shouldn't say it on your website either. ** In other news ** Unbelievable but true: From October 15 till 22, I'll be traveling to the US (for the first time in my life! #omg).
