Michiganders are saying enough is enough

These measures include universal background checks, extreme risk protection orders (aka red flag laws), and safe storage requirements. Last year, we watched in horror as the tragic mass shooting at Oxford High School unfolded. Just about a month ago, we witnessed more tragedy at Michigan State University. There were students who spoke at the rally who had been impacted by both shootings. No young person should have to experience this type of trauma even once, let alone twice. We rallied to honor the victims of these horrific acts of violence and to say enough is enough. It’s long past time for Michigan lawmakers to pass legislation to protect communities from gun violence. After the 2022 elections, the Michigan state legislature flipped from red to blue. Now, both the state House and Senate are filled with lawmakers who have the courage to act and protect their communities from acts of senseless gun violence. Yesterday, the Michigan Senate passed the majority of this historic legislative package. Now, it’s the Michigan House’s turn to act so we can get this legislation to Governor Whitmer’s desk.
