As we await the lies and attacks that will fly out of Donald Trump’s mouth, here’s a look at his track record on gun safety: - ❌ When Trump was president, gun homicides increased by 34 percent. - ❌ 36 hours after the murder of an Iowa 6th grader, Trump told Iowans they “have to get over it.” - ❌ This year, Trump bragged at an NRA event that his administration “did nothing” when it comes to gun safety. - ❌ Trump has promised that if he becomes president again, he’ll “terminate” all the work President Biden has done to save lives from gun violence. - ❌ Trump blames shootings on mental health, but repeatedly tried to slash mental health coverage during his presidency. Let’s compare that to President Biden’s record: - ✅ President Biden signed the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act into law, the most significant gun safety legislation in nearly 30 years. - ✅ Biden’s ATF expanded background checks, addressing dangerous loopholes and ensuring that firearms do not fall into the wrong hands. - ✅ Biden established the nation’s first ever White House Office of Gun Violence Prevention. - ✅ Biden has always stood up for survivors and pledged to take on the NRA. The contrast between Trump and Biden couldn’t be clearer.
