Bump stocks turn semi-automatic weapons into fully automatic machine guns. They should be illegal. The ATFâs bump stock ban took effect back in 2017 after a mass shooterâwho was armed with AR-15s accessorized with bump stocksâopened fire at the Route 91 Harvest music festival in Las Vegas. Within minutes, over 1000 rounds were fired, killing 60 people and injuring over 400 others. This Supreme Court decision is reckless, and puts our lives in jeopardy. Itâs time for Congress to undo the damage. Democratic Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer announced earlier this week that he will be holding a vote on legislation that would ban bump stocks. However, even a single senator can block debate on this important issue. Thatâs why we need to use our collective voice to show that banning dangerous bump stocks has strong support from our movement.
