Open up one of your website pages or sales/landing pages for me, will you {NAME}? Now take a second to scroll down said page... And count how many of the following headlines (or “subheads,” if you want to get technical about the terminology ;) you see? Testimonials What You Get Our Process FAQs How it Works About Me Chances are, you'll see quite a few. Now... Is the sky going to fall if you have these on your pages? Probably not. But truthfully? These types of headlines/subheads aren’t really doing much for YOU (the business owner who has something to sell)... Or your READERS (those great humans you want to feel confident buying whatever you sell). Or in other words, they're kinda "dead weight"! Sure - they tell your readers what they are about to read... But that’s…kiiiinda it. They aren’t helping to build trust or connection. They aren’t helping to persuade. And they aren’t giving your readers a compelling reason to keep moving down the page. Not good. And that, my friend, is why us copywriters like to refer to them as “lazy” headlines. So, what should you do instead? Well... Here are a few quick “do this, not that” examples to get you started. === For example: Instead of just writing “Testimonials”... 🠞 Try pulling out and highlighting one of the most compelling direct quotes you have from clients (in other words, don’t bury the juiciest part within the testimonials themselves!) === Here's another example: Instead of just writing “What You Get”... 🠞Try creating a value proposition that emphasizes what your reader will be able to achieve by moving forward (you can even try a template something like: “Everything you need to X, Y, Z”) === And here's one more: (a funny one :)) Instead of just writing “FAQs” or “Frequently Asked Questions”... 🠞 Try answering your audience’s top hesitation right in the crosshead (this way, they won’t have to go digging for this answer and/or miss it!) === And there you have it, {NAME}. 3 short, sweet, actionable tips for you. Now... Although I wrote my fair share of website copy years ago when I was still primarily working as a freelance copywriter... I no longer do (or teach) it nowadays. However... I *DO* realize most people on my list probably need help making their websites more persuasive and higher-converting. So I want to share a really cool (and free) resource with you that my friend - and fellow copywriting nerd - Nicole Elliott recently created It's called: [>> 5 Quick Steps You Can Take Today to Give Your Website Copy a Conversion & Connection Boost <<](=) And you can grab it via the link above. Inside, you'll discover: – A quick, often overlooked conversion-boosting step that will take you 7 minutes or less to implement on your entire website (step #5, in case you want to jump straight there for a quick win) – The most common mistakes I see businesses make with their website copy + real-world examples of what to do instead – The actual right way to use your testimonials (hint: there’s more to them than just chucking ‘em up on your website!) And this is just the tip of the iceberg ;) ^ ^ So go and grab Nicole's free guide via the link above ^ ^ And then shoot me back a reply with your favorite step! (Personally, mine was step #3!) -Csaba P.S. -- In case you’re skimming... I wanted to share a free resource that I think you’re gonna LOVE from my friend and fellow conversion copywriter / messaging strategist Nicole Elliott. This will help you nail your website copy & optimize it for audience connection & conversion. [>> Take a peek right here](=) Please add csaba@gameofconversions.com to your address book or whitelist us.
