[Register Today]( ['Dead Cells': What the F*n!?]( On Aug 2018, 'Dead Cells', Motion Twin's roguevania action game, left its Early Access phase after 1 1/2 years of intense work. Being their first PC/console title, the team of course made lots of discoveries along the way, one of the most significant being the importance of the small details in controls and game design. This session will provide a closer look at how cheating and making player life easier actually made the game more hardcore but without the rage-quits. [Automated Testing of Gameplay Features in 'Sea of Thieves']( Automated testing of gameplay features has traditionally not been taken up by the industry, due to the time required and perceived difficulty in creating reliable tests. 'Sea of Thieves' was created with automated testing from day one. This session explains why automated testing was the right choice for 'Sea of Thieves', and how it could benefit your game. It shows the framework that was built by Rare to easily let team members create automated tests. It then shows the different test types the Rare team built and what test coverage was felt to be right for the game. The session also details best practices for making tests work reliably on an evolving game like 'Sea of Thieves', using clear worked through examples. [Not-So-Little Light: Bringing 'Destiny 2' to HDR Displays]( In this session, Vicarious Visions' Kevin Todisco presents the approach taken to support HDR displays for 'Destiny 2'. This session covers the techniques used to achieve high quality HDR output in 'Destiny 2' that preserves Destiny's unique look, and reflects on the lessons learned from the work. It concludes with new advancements introduced since ship and looks forward to how we can better support this technology in the future.
