Assisting Absentee Voters: Using the Backup Ballot

Share these tips on using the Federal Write-in Absentee Ballot (FWAB) with absentee voters. [] [FVAP Banner] It's Time to Vote! Let absentee voters know that if they haven't received their official ballot yet, they can use the Federal Write-in Absentee Ballot (FWAB) as a backup. [Americans Can Vote] Here are a few tips on using the backup ballot to share with absentee voters: - Check their [state’s guidelines]( for sending the FWAB. They may be able to mail, fax, or email their backup ballot. - If their state allows them to fax or email the FWAB, use the [Transmission Cover Sheet]( to protect the privacy of their materials. - If they're mailing the FWAB, voters should use a [security envelope]( to seal the backup ballot. Print directly on a blank envelope, or print and tape to an envelope. - If voters receive their official ballot after they've sent the FWAB, they can vote, sign, and send that by their state's deadline as well. Remind voters that only one ballot will be counted. States may have tools to check the status of the ballot to make sure it was received.
