[vao ] Here are 5 easy tips for UOCAVA voters to put into action during Absentee Voting Week: 1. Send ballots by the recommended vote-by date. - October 1 for for active duty service members on a ship at sea. - October 24 for overseas active duty service members or U.S. citizens. - October 31 for active duty service members stationed stateside. - But no need to wait — Americans can vote, sign, and send their ballot as soon as it arrives. 2. Ballots can travel by mail, email, or fax. Voters can select their state on FVAP.gov to see their specific submission guidelines. 3. Voters can check the status of their ballot. Some states have online ballot status tools. Voters can [select their state]( and then click "Check the status of your voted ballot." If an online tool is not available, they can [contact their election official]( directly. 4. There's a backup ballot. If voters haven't received their ballot by early October, they can use the Federal Write-in Absentee Ballot (FWAB) as a backup.
