Hey America, today is [National Philanthropy Day]âhave you given back? After all, there has [never been a better time] to [support your favorite causes]. Canât afford to give? You can still use your spending power to [boycott organizations you feel contribute to hate] (and, if you want to keep â[terrifying man]â [Steve Bannon] from getting your money, that [might include forgoing Seinfeld reruns]). Remember, [even resistance] can be a form of philanthropy. In other news, this crowdsourcing app wants to be [an alternative to the police]; we remember [journalism legend Gwen Ifill]; this woke syllabus [will help you feel more empowered]; some Americans are [not sticking around the U.S. to see what happens] next; and President Trump [could spell trouble] for the Supreme Courtâfor generations to come. But you know what? The world [just experienced a beautiful supermoon]; research says [more sleep equals more $$] (so [try not to lose any more sleep] over the election); music apps [can heal you]; kids have won [the right to sue the government] over climate change; and [âdry farmingâ could save the world]. And we could certainly [use some saving] right about now. â[Laura Feinstein]

[alaabasatneh1]

Immediately after Donald Trump was elected president, I decided to stop wearing my hijab. Despite facing constant Islamophobia over the 12 years Iâve worn a headscarf in America, nothing had ever compelled me to remove it before.
Until Election Day.
Americaâs next president is someone whoâs openly targeted people like me by calling for a [ban] on Muslims entering the U.S., and suggesting we [carry ID cards]. For these reasons, I no longer feel safe at home.
But three days after Trump won the presidency, I was determined to get over my fear, and wore a blue flower-patterned [hijab] to my doctorâs appointment at a Miami hospital. As soon as I sat down in the waiting room, an older white man one seat away began staring at me. His penetrating eyes made me uncomfortable, but I continued to sit in silence.
Five minutes later, the man took out a pocket knife, opened it, and set it down on the empty seat between us. Terrified, I froze in place, just waiting to be stabbed. [Read more].
LETâS TALK ABOUT UNDER THE SEA
Who says conservation has to be boring? Next month, artist [Doug Aitkenâs] âUnderwater Pavilionsâ will [bring large-scale aquatic installations] to the Southern California coast. The project is meant to bring awareness to the living ocean ecosystem, and consists of three suspended sculptures that swimmers, snorkelers, and scuba divers can mingle with.
