Hello again! Paul Kirtley here, with a further update on our 2024 course and trip dates... As promised, as a Frontier Newsletter subscriber, you are among the first to know about new dates for Frontier Bushcraft course and trips. Expedition Canoeing Skills Course 2024 - dates just released Informally known as "the Windermere course", this introduction to all things canoe tripping returns for it's tenth year and is as popular as ever. We have two courses running in June 2024. These will be co-instructed by me and Ray Goodwin. If you’d love to make journeys – large or small – by open canoe then this course has been designed for you. Our week-long programme delivers the paddling and campcraft skills you need to get under way with canoe-camping trips. Combined with important safety, rescue and survival techniques, the Expedition Canoeing Skills Course provides an extensive range of know-how for travelling efficiently, safely and in comfort by open canoe. Full details and booking via the link below: [( River Spey Canoe Expedition 2024 - dates just released Another perennial favourite, Ray Goodwin and I will be leading two River Spey trips in 2024, in the first two weeks of October. This remains one of our favourite rivers to paddle anywhere in the world. It's a beautiful trip and the quality of the moving water is great; it always holds a lot of fun for more experienced paddlers but still approachable enough even for relative newcomers to open canoeing. It's a great trip to really progress your moving water paddling. The trip includes two nights in the outdoor centre at Loch Insh, while we prepare for the trip, with Monday being spent refreshing and developing paddling skills on the loch and on the river. Tuesday to Friday is the trip on the river, when we will load our canoes and take a journey from the foot of the Cairngorm mountains right down to the sea at Spey Bay, wild camping along the way. Meals, boats, and specialist equipment (if required) is all provided. Full details and booking via the following link. [( The Missinaibi River Expedition 2024 - one place remaining I am delighted to be returning to lead a trip on the Missinaibi river again in September 2024. This is such a great canoe journey, full of variety and surrounded by nature. The Frontier Bushcraft Missinaibi River expedition is a two-week voyage through the Canadian wilderness of northern Ontario, on a river which was one of the arterial trade routes. The journey involves canoeing a wild and remote route, covering over 200km of river with over 50 sets of runnable rapids, all through wonderful boreal wilderness. The Missinaibi River holds an important place in the history of Canada and is one of the country’s Heritage Rivers. In the days of the fur trade, the Missinaibi River was the main route between James Bay at the southern end of Hudson’s Bay and Lake Superior, the largest of the Great Lakes. It's a special river and one that is still pristine. We'll be self-contained and wild-camping all the way. It's a great adventure! Full information is available here - [The Missinaibi River Expedition]( If you'd like to join any of the above, then it would be a pleasure to have you join. Please note that places are strictly limited and early booking is advised. We won't be able to increase group sizes and we won't be adding further dates for any of these courses or trips in 2024. Once you have read the full details, if you still have questions, then please just ask. Wishing you a great weekend!
