Attacks from the far right are nothing new to me, {NAME}, but this latest smear from my former (and current) opponent Karen Handel really crosses a line. Shareblue just unearthed a clip of Handel talking to a group of her supporters -- and it really doesn't get more cynical than this -- she claimed that I only beat her because of my son being shot to death in 2012: "Now [Lucy] won't be able to run on emotion. She'll have to own her own record." [I need your help to fight off attacks like these, {NAME}](. Can you rush a grassroots contribution immediately?]( [DONATE]( Well, I've got news for Karen Handel. The voters of Georgia's 6th District did elect me because of emotion -- because they're sick and tired of Republican approaches to issues like healthcare, a woman's right to choose, and gun violence prevention. Issues that are quite literally matters of life and death to many 6th District families. Issues that are inherently emotional at their core, because of how important our big decisions around them are. The voters of Georgia's 6th District didn't elect me because they felt sorry for me. Or because my son was shot and killed. They elected me because of what I've done since that tragedy. The organizing. The advocacy work. Georgians elected me because our campaign brought neighbors together in living rooms throughout the 6th District. To break bread over our shared values of creating safer communities and helping our families thrive. And to brainstorm solutions. [So, if you're fired up (and I know I am) by Handel's latest attack, will you help me continue to fight off these types of attacks by making a donation to my re-election campaign?]( [CHIP IN >>]( That way, we can make sure that we keep the focus of this race on real issues -- and not on cheap character attacks.
