After a year of goofy upsets and what's felt like parity run wild, it feels like the final game will feature the two best teams in the league. Funny how it works that way. I hope you have a great time watching the Super Bowl and thank you for another year of hanging out with us at Footballguys. Cecil Lammey has the News and Notes you need. Let's Go. J

KC: Rashee Rice expected to play [Source: Chiefs.com]( Kansas City Chiefs WR Rashee Rice (ankles) fully participated in practice Friday, Feb. 9, and is not on the injury report for Super Bowl LVIII. Our view: The rookie receiver has become a trusted target for QB Patrick Mahomes. This injury may slow him down a bit, but he could still come through with a big play or two in an effort to keep the chains moving. [Back to Top](#top) [] 2. KC: Isiah Pacheco on track to play [Source: Chiefs.com]( Kansas City Chiefs RB Isiah Pacheco (ankle, toe) fully participated in practice Friday, Feb. 9, and is not on the injury report for Super Bowl LVIII. Our view: Pacheco is the angriest runner in the league, and he plays with little regard of his personal safety. He's been banged up quite a bit in his short pro career, but Pacheco will keep fighting for tough yards as long as he can. We think his play will be key against a 49ers' defense that has struggled to stop the run in the postseason. [Back to Top](#top) [] 3. SF: George Kittle on track to play [Source: 49ers.com]( San Francisco 49ers TE George Kittle (toe) fully participated in practice Friday, Feb. 9, and is not on the injury report for Super Bowl LVIII. Our view: This game features two of the best tight ends in the modern era; Kittle and Travis Kelce. They'll both be security-blanket targets with big-play ability. Kittle is not 100 percent, but he'll give it his all in the big game. [Back to Top](#top) [] 4. SF: Christian McCaffrey delivering for Niners [Source: ESPN.com - Jeremy Fowler]( San Francisco 49ers RB Christian McCaffrey is averaging 112 yards from scrimmage in five career playoff games with the 49ers, and he has scored six touchdowns, including four in two games this postseason. Our view: We think this game comes down the play of the backs on each team. The Chiefs have hard-charging Isiah Pacheco, and the 49ers have a do-everything back in McCaffrey. We're certain a big part of the Chiefs' defensive gameplan will revolve around slowing down McCaffrey and forcing QB Brock Purdy to beat them. [Back to Top](#top)
[] 5. NYJ: Rodgers feeling good [Source: Rich Cimini - ESPN.com]( Rich Cimini, from ESPN.com, reports New York Jets QB Aaron Rodgers is feeling good post-Achilles' surgery. On Mr. Joe Rogan's podcast, Rodgers said "It feels good. I can do everything except sprint at a top speed." Our view: That's the way Rodgers has been feeling for some time. It's a make-or-break season for HC Robert Saleh and the Jets in 2024. We'll see if Rodgers can stay healthy and play like he used to. In his final games with the Packers (2022), Rodgers didn't look quite like himself. [Back to Top](#top) [] 6. NYJ: Owner sends a message [Source: Tom Rock - Newsday]() Tom Rock, from Newsday, reports New York Jets owner Woody Johnson 'sent a message' to his coaching staff about his expectations for the 2024 season. "They all got the message. This is the time to go. We have to produce this year. We have to produce this yearâ¦. It's not a playoff mandate, but we have to do a lot better than 7 (wins)." Johnson is quoted in the report. Our view: It's not playoffs-or-bust for HC Robert Saleh, but it kind of is. They'll have a healthy Aaron Rodgers, and they need to make a run with at least double-digit wins. [Back to Top](#top) [] 7. SEA: Seahawks hiring Ryan Grubb [Source: ESPN.com - Pete Thamel and Adam Schefter]( University of Alabama offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb is being hired by the Seattle Seahawks for the same role, per sources on Friday, Feb. 9. Our view: Grubb was the OC for the Washington Huskies in 2023 before deciding to follow Kalen DeBoer to the Crimson Tide earlier this year. Well, the appeal of the NFL was something Grubb coveted so he leaps to join Mike Macdonald's staff. He's known for putting together an efficient passing game with underneath routes, and it will be interesting to see how Grubb handles an offense led by QB Geno Smith. [Back to Top](#top) [] 8. LVR: Davante Adams happy with new OC [Source: ESPN.com - Paul Gutierrez]() Las Vegas Raiders WR Davante Adams said he is happy that the team hired offensive coordinator Luke Getsy because he worked with Getsy when both were with the Green Bay Packers. Our view: Keeping Adams happy is a smart move. Getsy will be in charge of getting the most from Adams, but we'll see who is playing quarterback for the Raiders in 2024. Aidan O'Connell might continue as the team's starter, or they could go for an upgrade by moving up in the first round of the 2024 NFL draft. [Back to Top](#top) [] 9. CHI: Cole Kmet recovering from injury [Source: Chicago Sun-Times - Jason Lieser]() Chicago Bears TE Cole Kmet (forearm) said he suffered a fractured forearm during the regular season finale but does not need surgery. Our view: Good news for the Bears here. He said he will be fine for the start of offseason workouts. Now, we just have to see who the Bears have a quarterback for 2024. They have QB Justin Fields, but with the no1 overall pick they could get a generational talent in USC QB Caleb Williams. Stay tuned. [Back to Top](#top) [] 10. NCAA: Bill O'Brien hired by Boston College [Source: Click2Houston.com - Aaron Wilson]( Former New England Patriots offensive coordinator Bill O'Brien was hired as the head coach of Boston College on Friday, Feb. 9. Our view: O'Brien was going to be the OC for Ohio State before changing his mind and deciding to coach the Eagles when their job opened up. A Massachusetts native, O'Brien stays home and goes back to the world of college football where he's had success as both a head coach and an assistant. [Back to Top](#top) [] 11. TB: Inside track to re-sign QB Mayfield [Source: Ian Rapoport - NFL Network](=) Ian Rapoport, from NFL Network, reports the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have the inside track to re-sign QB Baker Mayfield. Our view: The move would make sense for both sides. The Buccaneers need Mayfield, and he enjoyed a career resurgence with them in 2023. Mayfield threw for 4,044 yards and 28 touchdowns en route to a playoff berth and a Wild Card Round win over the Eagles. There's buzz that Mayfield wants to stay, and he wants to them to keep impending free agent WR Mike Evans. The franchise tag is an option for either of these players if the Bucs want to keep the band together. [Back to Top](#top) [] 12. LVR: Aidan O'Connell has chance to start [Source: The Athletic - Vic Tafur]() Las Vegas Raiders QB Aidan O'Connell will have the chance to compete for the starting quarterback job next season, but the team likely will be adding another quarterback this offseason to compete with O'Connell, according to head coach Antonio Pierce. Our view: The Raiders could be making a move up for a quarterback in the 2024 NFL draft. However, with many teams trying to get one of the top-3 passers in this draft class, we might see O'Connell as the starter. O'Connell did flash as a rookie, and he got plenty of starting experience to build on in 2024. [Back to Top](#top) That'll do it for today, Folks.
