SEA: Seahawks hiring Mike Macdonald [Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter]( Baltimore Ravens defensive coordinator Mike Macdonald is being hired by the Seattle Seahawks as their next head coach, per sources on Wednesday, Jan. 31. Our view: The Seahawks are going to look different without Pete Carroll running the show, but we feel Macdonald will carry on the tradition of consistent winning in the Northwest. ATL: Jerry Gray sticking around [Source: NFL Network - Mike Garafolo]( Atlanta Falcons assistant head coach/defense Jerry Gray agreed to an undisclosed contract extension Wednesday, Jan. 31, and he'll remain on head coach Raheem Morris' staff. Our view: Gray will be a valuable resource on Morris' staff in Atlanta. If this team can get a quarterback, then watch out - especially in that division. CHI: Thomas Brown hired by Bears [Source: Chicago Tribune - Brad Biggs]() Former Carolina Panthers offensive coordinator Thomas Brown was hired by the Chicago Bears as passing game coordinator. Our view: Brown has a good reputation, even though things were way down for him and the Panthers in 2023. We don't yet know who the Bears will have at quarterback, but it's likely Brown will be tasked with getting the most out of a Caleb Williams-led attack. [Back to Top](#top) [] 4. HOU: Bobby Slowik remaining in Houston [Source: SI.com - Albert Breer](=) Houston Texans offensive coordinator Bobby Slowik agreed to a new deal that keeps him with the team until at least 2025, according to sources Tuesday, Jan. 30. Our view: Slowik is on track to be a head coach someday. That's going to be in a bit as the Texans want to bring it back with him. He's done a great job crafting a Shanahan-like offense for QB CJ Stroud, and they'll look to build on the success they had in 2023 moving forward. NFL: Carson Strong announces retirement [Source: 1 No Source](=) Free-agent QB Carson Strong (Cardinals) announced his retirement on Wednesday, Jan. 31. Our view: It wasn't that long ago that Strong was an intriguing prospect at the Senior Bowl.
