[CHI - QB Mitchell Trubisky ready if needed](#14) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 1. [OAK - PK Sebastian Janikowski to IR](=) Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter Oakland Raiders PK Sebastian Janikowski (back) was placed on injured reserve Saturday, Sept. 9. It is not known yet whether Janikowski will be out for the season due to disc issues in his back or whether Janikowski will miss a partial section of the season. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ESPN's Adam Schefter reports the team has signed Giorgio Tavecchio off the practice squad to kick. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 2. [LAR - DE Aaron Donald ends holdout](=) Source: ProFootballTalk.com Los Angeles Rams DT Aaron Donald reported to the team and passed his physical Saturday, Sept. 9. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] It's a surprise as the two sides have had no progress on a contract extension. Donald is under the team's control for two more seasons as they exercised his fifth-year option. He missed OTAs but did show up for mandatory minicamp, then he missed all of training camp and the preseason. Donald is not expected to be active Week 1 against the Indianapolis Colts. We should see him in Week 2, even if it's on a limited snap count. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 3. [NYG - Odell Beckham flying with team to Dallas](=) Source: NFL.com - Mike Garafolo New York Giants WR [Odell Beckham Jr](=). (ankle) will travel with the team Saturday, Sept. 9, in advance of the Giants' Week 1 game against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday, Sept. 10. He is still expected to be a game-time decision. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Fantasy owners who take a chance that ODB is going to play need to have a backup plan in place. Look to the Monday night games (or other Giants/Cowboys available) to have a replacement for Beckham if necessary. It's a good sign that he's traveling with the team, but there's no guarantee that the superstar WR will be playing Sunday night. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 4. [CIN - RB Giovani Bernard to remain involved]() Source: The Cincinnati Enquirer - Paul Dehner Jr. Cincinnati Bengals RB [Giovani Bernard](=) should maintain his role on passing downs to start the year, according to Paul Dehner Jr. of the Cincinnati Enquirer. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The Bengals backfield is an interesting one to navigate for fantasy owners. Jeremy Hill is the starter, Bernard is a change-of-pace back and rookie Joe Mixon is the most talented of the group (and currently third string on the depth chart). Bernard is an RB5 or deep flex, but that's about all you can trust him for in Week 1. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 5. [NYG - DAL WR Dez Bryant 'Pretty sure' Odell Beckham Jr. Will Play]() Source: Sportsday / Dallas News - Brandon George Reporter Brandon George reports Cowboys WR [Dez Bryant](=) said he talked on the phone earlier this week with his friend [Odell Beckham Jr](=). and believes the Giants receiver will play Sunday. "We just talked about what we always do, nothing that has to do with football, just buddy stuff," Bryant said. "I'm pretty sure he's going to play." Why is that? "Because he's the heart and soul of that squad," Bryant said. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Understand it's tough to use Dez Bryant as a definitive source for Odell Beckham's playing status. But it's also worth noting. It's also worth noting that players almost always lean toward the optimistic side when it comes to whether they can play or not. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 6. [DET - WR Golden Tate to draw CB Patrick Peterson](=) Source: ESPN.com - Josh Weinfuss Detroit Lions WR [Golden Tate](=) will likely be shadowed by Arizona Cardinals CB Patrick Peterson in Week 1, according to Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Keep this in mind when considering Tate for your starting lineup. Peterson often 'shadows' an opponents best WR for the whole game. Per PFF's Mike Renner, Peterson was targeted at the lowest rate of any CB in the NFL and allowed receptions at the third-lowest rate. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 7. [DEN - DE Jared Crick, Zachariah Kerr ruled out Week 1]() Source: The Denver Post - Nicki Jhabvala Denver Broncos DEs Jared Crick (back) and Zachariah Kerr (knee) have been ruled out for Week 1 against the Los Angeles Chargers. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The Broncos rush defense is going to be tested on Monday night against the Chargers. Opposite Derek Wolfe on the defensive line, we'll see a rotation of guys like Adam Gotsis and Shelby Harris. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 8. [PIT - DE Stephon Tuitt nets huge extension](=) Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter DE Stephon Tuitt signed a five-year extension worth $61 million with the Pittsburgh Steelers on Saturday, Sept. 9. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] A second-round pick in 2014, Tuitt was set to hit the open market next year. A top-10 player at his position, Tuitt has 10.5 sacks over the last two years while also grading out as a strong run defender. The Steelers are famous for not negotiating once the season starts, and this 11th hour deal for Tuitt was in the works for some time. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 9. [KC - Steven Terrell headed back to KC]( Source: The Kansas City Star - Terez A. Paylor Free-agent S Steven Terrell (Chiefs) signed an undisclosed deal to return to the Kansas City Chiefs on Saturday, Sept. 9. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The Chiefs needed depth at the position with Eric Berry (Achilles') done for the season. Terrell was undrafted out of Texas A&M in 2013 and has bounced around the league and the Chiefs are his fourth stop during that time. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 10. [IND - RB Matt Jones not long for Indianapolis](=) Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter Indianapolis Colts RB [Matt Jones](=) was waived Saturday, Sept. 9. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Jones fell out of favor with Washington, they tried to trade him - couldn't find any takers - so they released him. The Colts picked him up but evidently didn't like what they saw. Maybe the Bears (who put in a waiver claim for him last week) will give Jones another chance. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 11. [NE - New England receiving calls on RB Dion Lewis](=) Source: Boston Herald - Jeff Howe New England Patriots RB [Dion Lewis](=) has been the focal point of trade conversations with multiple teams since the offseason, according to the Boston Herald's Jeff Howe, who reports some of the discussions occurred as recently as the past week. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Lewis is buried in the Patriots cluttered backfield, but we can't see any team giving up a lot for him. The Patriots will take a good offer but there's no need to let him go for anything. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 12. [ATL - Two QBs work out for Atlanta]() Source: BalzerFootball.com - Howard Balzer Free-agent QBs Garrett Grayson (Saints) and Mitch Leidner (Vikings) worked out for the Atlanta Falcons Friday, Sept. 8. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Grayson, a third-round pick out of Colorado State (2015), spent a couple of years with the Saints but didn't develop enough for them to keep him. With Matt Schaub behind Matt Ryan, perhaps the Falcons want a scout team QB to compete with practice squad quarterback Trevor Knight. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 13. [TEN - Adoree' Jackson to start in Week 1]() Source: The Tennessean - Jason Wolf Tennessee Titans CB Adoree' Jackson will likely start against the Oakland Raiders in Week 1 with CB LeShaun Sims (groin) ruled out. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Jackson was arguably the most explosive athlete in the 2017 draft class. He's fast, fluid and can make plays all over the field. Jackson is aggressive and can get burned by double moves and savvy route runners. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 14. [CHI - QB Mitchell Trubisky ready if needed](=) Source: The Associated Press - Gene Chamberlain Chicago Bears QB Mitchell Trubisky has the 'it factor,' according to head coach John Fox, and Fox said he would 'feel pretty confident' if Trubisky was forced into action. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] It's only a matter of time before Trubisky gets his chance. He's clearly the team's franchise quarterback and quarterback of the future, and the rookie from North Carolina looked good in the preseason. Starter Mike Glennon won't have a lot of room for error if he wants to hang onto the top spot of the team's depth chart. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- That'll do it for today, Folks. Thanks for reading and thanks for being part of Footballguys.
