In this one, they look at the defensive backs they see as overvalued. [] INSIDE THIS ISSUE 1. [NYJ - Garrett Wilson in top form](#1) 2. [NFL - DeAndre Hopkins continuing to exercise patience](#2) 3. [NYJ - Garrett Wilson in top form](=) Source: The Athletic - Zack Rosenblatt New York Jets WR Garrett Wilson 'looked like the Jets' best player' during OTAs, according to Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] That sounds about right. We only saw the tip of the iceberg when it comes to Wilson's talent he showed as a rookie in 2022...and he had over 1,000 yards receiving last year. Wilson should become a favorite target of QB Aaron Rodgers, and Fantasy GMs are taking him off the board as a lower-end WR1. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 2. [NFL - DeAndre Hopkins continuing to exercise patience]( Source: ESPN - Dianna Russini Free-agent WR DeAndre Hopkins (Cardinals) is 'going over some offers (and) mulling over and trying to come out with a decision with what he wants to do (in free agency), and I was told to be very patient here,' according to ESPN's Dianna Russini. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Hopkins wants to generate more interest, and that's why he's exercising patience. He's a seasoned veteran who could step into a new scheme during training camp and the preseason only to be ready for the regular season. Stay tuned. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 3. [BUF - Bills HC and GM sign extension]( Source: CBSSports.com - Jonathan Jones Buffalo Bills head coach Sean McDermott and general manager Brandon Beane were signed to contract extensions through 2027 Friday, June 23. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The Bills' duo has transformed them into a Super Bowl contender every season. With QB Josh Allen, that window to win it all is open...and now Beane and McDermott will have more time to do just that. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 4. [CHI - Robert Tonyan busy at practice]( Source: The Athletic - Kevin Fishbain Chicago Bears TE Robert Tonyan was 'pretty involved with the first-team offense' during minicamp, according to Kevin Fishbain of The Athletic. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] This is an important note as Fantasy GMs are looking for a more robust Bears' passing offense in 2023. Tonyan is there to split time/snaps with Cole Kmet at the tight end position. After Kmet's breakout season in 2022 (including seven touchdowns), we imagine he'll get most of the looks for the tight ends. However, let's see if we can gather more clues during training camp and the preseason. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 5. [MIN - Alexander Mattison primed for success]( Source: ProFootballReference.com Minnesota Vikings RB Alexander Mattison has averaged 115.5 yards from scrimmage in six career starts, rushing for at least 90 yards four times. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Opinions on Mattison are all over the place. Advanced data shows how Mattison was not as effective after contact as average backs in the league, while others are saying he's at least as good as former starter Dalvin Cook. We'll see how this shakes out in training camp because the Vikings are not just going to hand Mattison the job. He should be considered the frontrunner, but guys like Kene Nwangwu and Ty Chandler will compete for the top spot as well. [TEN - Malik Willis more confident](=) Source: ESPN.com - Turron Davenport Tennessee Titans QB Malik Willis has been more confident and decisive in his second season, according to multiple teammates. 'I think when you have a whole year of doing something, you just get a little more comfortable doing it,' Willis said. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Willis has an absolute cannon for an arm, but he showed little control on his passes last year as a rookie. The team may have already moved on from the idea of him being a QB of the future as they drafted Will Levis (Kentucky) in the second round of the 2023 NFL draft. Levis has talent and the hype to win the no.2 job behind Ryan Tannehill in camp this year. If/when Tannehill struggles, Levis could see the field as a rookie...unless Willis beats him out for the backup job. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 7. [NFL - Melvin Gordon wants to play in 2023]( Source: CBS Sports - Jim Rome Free-agent RB Melvin Gordon (Chiefs) wants to play in 2023 but acknowledged the difficult market running backs face in this day and age, he told Jim Rome on Wednesday, June 21. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Gordon will just have to play the waiting game, like many other veteran RBs out there on the open market. In fact, it may take a rash of training camp injuries before teams get to Gordon on their list. If he gets a shot with another team this year, Gordon is likely to be there as veteran depth. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 8. [CHI - Rookie RB Johnson To Play Early?]( Source: The Athletic - Kevin Fishbain Chicago Bears rookie RB Roschon Johnson is 'really going to take off' when training camp begins, according to HC Matt Eberflus. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] We loved Johnson as one of our sleeper RBs in the 2023 NFL draft. A backup to superstar Bijon Robinson in college at Texas, Johnson could be like Priest Holmes (a talented college backup who shined in the pros). Like Holmes (who was a backup to superstar Ricky Williams), Johnson has the skill of a three-down back. He may not as super productive as Holmes was when he finally got his chance to start with the Chiefs, but make no mistake - Johnson could be a solid starter in this league. We'll see how the Bears utilize him and incumbent starter Khalil Herbert in 2023. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [100% Deposit Match Up To $100 At Underdog Fantasy]( --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 9. [NYJ - Tyler Conklin working on the side](=) Source: The Athletic - Zack Rosenblatt New York Jets TE Tyler Conklin (undisclosed) worked on the side during OTAs due to an undisclosed injury. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Conklin should be the starter for the Jets if healthy, but we expect the team will use some form of TEBC. Along with Conklin, C.J. Uzomah and Jeremy Ruckert (who has been getting some love from OTA reports) will compete for snaps and targets at the position. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 10. [NFL - Marcedes Lewis looking to play in 2023](=) Source: The Associated Press - Mark Long Free-agent TE Marcedes Lewis (Packers) said his agent has had preliminary talks with a few teams this offseason but understands he may have to wait longer to sign with a team. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Lewis can still make plays as a blocker and sometimes as a receiver too. A first-round pick all the way back in the 2006 NFL draft, Lewis could reunite with QB Aaron Rodgers (Jets) as the two played together over the last five seasons. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 11. [NYJ - Jason Brownlee eyeing roster spot](=) Source: The Athletic - Zack Rosenblatt New York Jets WR Jason Brownlee 'flashed the most' of all the undrafted free agents during OTAs, according to Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic, and Rosenblatt believes Brownlee could secure a spot on the roster. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Undrafted out of Southern Miss earlier this year, it's a great sign that Brownlee has been impressing during OTAs. With a solid training camp and preseason, the big-bodied rookie could win a spot on the practice squad at least. In his college film you can see his catch radius and 'my ball' mentality helps him win contested catches. However, you also see a player who is incredibly raw as a route runner. We'll see what Brownlee can do in camp, but of course monitor him in deep dynasty formats.
