[CIN - RB Mixon Headed for Salary Adjustment?]() Source: Paul Dehner Jr. - The Athletic Cincinnati Bengals RB Joe Mixon may be headed for a "salary adjustment" according to The Athletic's Paul Dehner Jr. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Things have been trending this way for some time. The Bengals did not spend a premium pick on a running back in the 2023 NFL draft, but they did add RB Chase Brown out of Illinois in the fifth round. Mixon is their best option at the position, and the team still likes what he can do for them, but he'll need to adjust his salary from the current $12.8 million cap hit. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 2. [BUF - Stefon Diggs' frustration rooted in his role on offense]() Source: The Boston Globe - Ben Volin Buffalo Bills WR Stefon Diggs is reportedly unhappy with his role in the offense and his lack of a voice in play-calling, according to a source. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] We're getting some tidbits here and there about Diggs. He's clearly unhappy with something after the way Buffalo's season ended last year in the playoffs and the fact that he did not show up until mandatory work this offseason. Hopefully, the team smooths things over with the talented receiver, and last week Bills HC Sean McDermott did say the two sides were "in a real good spot." [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 3. [MIN - Josh Oliver to be used in red zone?]( Source: The Athletic - Alec Lewis Minnesota Vikings TE Josh Oliver could have a role in the red zone, according to offensive coordinator Wesley Phillips. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] We could see Oliver getting some looks near pay dirt. The starting tight end is T.J. Hockenson, but when he gets a bunch of attention the Vikings could use 12 personnel (1 RB, 2 TEs) where Oliver could get open. Follow the money, as earlier this offseason the Vikings gave Oliver, formerly of the Ravens, a three-year, $21 million contract (with $10.75 MM in guarantees). [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 4. [CHI - CHI wants Justin Fields to command the line](=) Source: ESPN.com - Jeremy Fowler Chicago Bears QB Justin Fields is being asked to be more decisive at the line of scrimmage, and make the throw if it's there. If the throw isn't there, that's when he can run, but they don't want him to open with that option, ESPN's Jeremy Fowler said on SportsCenter Sunday, June 18. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] This is a natural progression for a running quarterback. He needs to see the defense clearly before the snap, and Fields needs to have great anticipation for any adjustments the opponents make once the play begins. When options as a passer are exhausted, then Fields can still be incredibly dangerous as a runner. Getting him a legit no.1 receiver like D.J. Moore should benefit him greatly. However, let's see them in action before projecting any sort of Jalen Hurts-like leap as a passer in 2023. [LAR - Stafford Confident in WR Jefferson]() Source: ProFootballTalk.com Los Angeles Rams QB Matthew Stafford said he and the team "feel confident" in WR Van Jefferson heading into the 2023 season. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] There have been a couple of stories about Jefferson this offseason, and they've been positive about his 2023 outlook. He's been catching passes from Stafford this offseason, and we're curious to see how things look in training camp. In addition to the stories about Jefferson, rookie WR Puka Nacua has been getting a ton of hype this offseason from OTAs and mandatory minicamp. If Stafford can stay healthy this year, he'll have an array of receiving weapons to throw to. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 6. [CLE - Cleveland could target veteran RB insurance]( Source: The Cleveland Plain Dealer - Mary Kay Cabot Free-agent RBs Dalvin Cook (Vikings), Ezekiel Elliott (Cowboys) and Kareem Hunt (Browns) are not likely to sign with the Cleveland Browns before the season, but Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer believes there is a possibility the Browns will add a veteran No. 3 back before the start of the season. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The Browns have Nick Chubb, arguably the best RB in the league, as their starter. Behind him, we'll see Jerome Ford likely as the primary backup. Demetric Felton is there, but he's a smaller back who plays like a slot receiver. The Browns might be looking for a veteran - but it sounds like they're not interested in some of the bigger names available. Maybe a veteran like Marlon Mack could be of interest to the Browns when we get to training camp. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 7. [MIN - Kene Nwangwu working with starters]( Source: The Athletic - Alec Lewis Minnesota Vikings RB Kene Nwangwu has lined up alongside QB Kirk Cousins in 11-on-11 snaps during OTAs, and Alec Lewis of The Athletic believes Nwangwu has a chance to earn the backup running back job. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The Vikings have quite a bit of talent in the backfield, even after letting Dalvin Cook go. Most expect Alexander Mattison to win the starting job, but he's going to have to beat out guys like Nwangwu and Ty Chandler in camp. Even if Mattison is the no.1 on the depth chart, we imagine Nwangwu and Chandler will work their way into the mix. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [100% Deposit Match Up To $100 At Underdog Fantasy]( --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 8. [CAR - Raheem Blackshear eyeing bigger role]( Source: Charlotte Observer - Mike Kaye Carolina Panthers RB Raheem Blackshear has been taking on a bigger role in the offense during OTAs, according to Mike Kaye of the Charlotte Observer. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Keep an eye on the Panthers' backfield in training camp and the preseason. Blackshear earned some praise from HC Frank Reich earlier this offseason, so there's a bit of a drumbeat here. Undrafted out of Virginia Tech last year, Blackshear began his pro career with the Bills but spent most of last season with the Panthers. Blackshear appeared in 13, rushing 23 times for 77 yards and three touchdowns and catching 10 of 12 targets for 93 yards. Miles Sanders is there to be the lead back, but Blackshear will compete with Chuba Hubbard to create a pecking order in the backfield. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 9. [CHI - WR Jones Needs to Show Special Teams Value]() Source: Kevin Fishbain - The Athletic Chicago Bears WR Velus Jones will need to prove his value on special teams in training camp and the preseason if he's going to make the final roster according to The Athletic's Kevin Fishbain. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Things change pretty quickly around here. Jones, a third-round pick out of Tennessee in the 2022 NFL draft, was pushed down the depth chart when the Bears traded for WR D.J. Moore. Add in Darnell Mooney and Chase Claypool to see how Jones is the no.4 option at the position - at best. The Bears also have Equanimeous St. Brown and rookie Tyler Scott ready to establish a pecking order behind their top three receivers. Oh yeah, veteran Dante Pettis is there to compete with Jones (and others) as a returner and receiver. Needless to say, Jones has his work cut out for him.
