[HOU - QB Davis Mills 'a lot further along']() Source: Texans Wire - Mark Lane Houston Texans QB Davis Mills is 'a lot further along' from where he was a year ago, general manager Nick Caserio said on Thursday, June 16. 'Overall I would say from where he was, call it a year ago, to where he is now, he's certainly a lot further along,' Caserio said. 'So, I think the preseason and the training camp will be another opportunity, not only for him, but the whole team to see if we can kind of build on some of the things that we've done here over the last however many weeks it's been.' [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Mills was in for 13 games as a rookie, and he passed for 2,664 yards with 16 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. Looking closer at his rookie stats, Mills had four games of 300-plus yards passing and five games where he had multiple touchdowns. The Texans are building around him, and he's the unquestioned starter this season. If he makes another step forward in his career, Mills could continue as the starter in 2023. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 2. [CAR - Robbie Anderson talks retirement tweet]( Source: PanthersWire - Anthony Rizzuti Carolina Panthers WR Robbie Anderson said he wasn't 'that serious' about retiring after tweeting about it recently. 'I was just, ya know, thinking out loud,' he said on Wednesday, June 15. 'Just thinkin' out loud. But I wasn't, like, really that serious, for real.' [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Anderson tweeted about retirement last week then deleted the tweet after people were reacting to it. He's the no.2 receiver for the Panthers, and he's catching passes from QB Sam Darnold. Anderson's 2020 season (95 catches, 1,097 yards) seems like an anomaly compared to the rest of his career. He's a WR6 for Fantasy GMs this season - even if the Panthers are able to pull off a trade for QB Baker Mayfield. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 3. [NE - RB White Could Begin Camp on PUP](=) Source: Alex Barth - 98.5 The Sports Hub Alex Barth, from 98.5 The Sports Hub, reports New England Patriots RB James White (hip) could begin training camp on the PUP list. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] No surprise here. The Patriots have a backfield that is jam-packed with talent so they can be wisely cautious with White. The PUP list to begin the regular season is an option, and so is short-term Injured Reserve. Barth believes fourth-round RB Pierre Strong "looks like the best fit" to replace White as a pass-catching back to work in behind Damien Harris and Rhamondre Stevenson. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 4. [DAL - WR CeeDee Lamb resting hamstring]( Source: DallasCowboys.com - Mickey Spagnola Dallas Cowboys WR CeeDee Lamb (hamstring) was sidelined for June minicamp with a hamstring injury, but he expects to be ready for training camp. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Lamb doesn't need to be out there for every practice rep. He's one of the best wide receivers in the game today, and Lamb is a no-brainer WR1 for Fantasy GMs. If you want Lamb on your fantasy team, prepare to spend a mid-second-round pick on the superstar receiver. His current ADP is WR7 (2.07) in 12-team PPR leagues. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 5. [NE - WR Thornton Mixed in With Starters]( Source: Jeff Howe - The Athletic Jeff Howe, from The Athletic, reports New England Patriots WR Tyquan Thornton has "mixed in with the starters" during minicamp. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The Patriots moved up in the second round to select Thornton in the 2022 NFL draft which was a bit of a surprise because many in the scouting community thought he would be a Day 3 pick. Thornton is fast - really fast - but that's it for his game. He's not polished as a route runner and not incredible at the catch point. It's not the first time the Patriots have reached on a receiver (N'Keal Harry anyone?). DeVante Parker is set to start and Jakobi Meyers can start from the slot. The team is giving Thornton every opportunity to earn the no.2 job opposite of Parker in 2022. Let's see if he can impress in training camp. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 6. [DAL - Hamstring bothering WR Noah Brown]( Source: DallasCowboys.com - Mickey Spagnola Dallas Cowboys WR Noah Brown (hamstring) has been sidelined for minicamp practices with a minor hamstring injury. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Brown has talent and has flashed a bit when he's gotten onto the field for the Cowboys. A seventh-round pick out of Ohio State in the 2017 NFL draft, Brown is there for depth but could see more action if WR Michael Gallup (ACL) isn't ready for Week 1. [TEN - RB Derrick Henry open to extension]( Source: The Associated Press - Teresa M. Walker Tennessee Titans RB Derrick Henry is open to signing a contract extension with the team. 'It's always good to get a promotion at your job,' Henry said on Tuesday, June 14. 'A promotion is always good. I'm trying to work through that but I'm currently still under contract. If that's what the future holds, then yeah, that'd be great.' [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Henry is the centerpiece of what the Titans do on offense, and he will once again be tasked with leading the way in 2022. He is signed through the 2023 season, and Henry has a cap hit this season of $15 million with $6 million in dead money. His cap hit this year is no.2 in the league behind Ezekiel Elliott who has a cap hit of $18.2 million. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 8. [BUF - TE Dawson Knox practiced at minicamp]() Source: Spectrum News 1 Buffalo Bills TE Dawson Knox (undisclosed) was practicing at mandatory minicamp on Tuesday, June 14, after not participating in organized team activities because of an undisclosed injury. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Knox is the leading pass-catcher at the tight end position for the Bills. They did add O.J. Howard this offseason in free agency, but he's not looked dynamic as a receiving threat in Bills OTAs and minicamp. We like Knox as a low-end TE1 for Fantasy GMs this season...right around what he did last year as the no.7 fantasy tight end in standard-scoring leagues. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 9. [ARI - RB David Johnson open to Cards reunion](=) Source: David Johnson - Twitter Free-agent RB David Johnson (Texans) hinted he's open to returning to the Arizona Cardinals on Friday, June 17. 'Back where it all began. Who knows,' Johnson tweeted in response to a fan who asked him to come back to Arizona. 'The Red Sea always has a special place in my heart!' [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Johnson is a free agent...so he's open to pretty much any destination. He participated with the Saints in minicamp on a tryout basis, but he did not land a deal. Johnson is not what he used to be as a runner anymore, but he can still be an effective receiver out of the backfield. The Cardinals have James Conner as their lead back with Darrel Williams giving them valuable depth as the no.2 back. If added, Johnson would not push either one for much playing time. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 10. [JAX - RB James Robinson declines to give timetable]() Source: JaguarsWire - James Johnson Jacksonville Jaguars RB James Robinson (Achilles) refused to give a timetable for his return to the field from a torn Achilles' tendon suffered in 2021. 'When I'm ready, I'll be ready. You guys know,' he said on Wednesday, June 15. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Jaguars new head coach Doug Pederson has previously stated Robinson could be ready for training camp, but let's just wait and see. Travis Etienne, a first-round pick in the 2021 NFL draft, is there to be the lead back and when healthy Robinson will be worked into the offense. Robinson began running on the practice field earlier this month, but he's yet to be cleared to run at full speed. We imagine the Jaguars put him on the PUP list to start camp and then ease him into action come August. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 11. [CLE - CLE willing to pay half QB Baker Mayfield's salary]() Source: MMQB - Albert Breer The Cleveland Browns are willing to pick up half of QB Baker Mayfield's salary in a trade, MMQB's Albert Breer reported on Friday, June 17. 'They're willing to take on a fair amount of Baker's salary,' Breer said. 'Like nine, 10 million dollars.' [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] We're getting more movement on the Mayfield situation, and something could be done with him before the start of training camp. The Panthers have interest, perhaps the Seahawks too, but teams have been insisting the Browns pay a large chunk of his salary. He has a cap hit of $18.8 million (fully guaranteed) playing on his fifth-year option in 2022.
