A study of hatchlings in Florida recently found that more than 90% of baby turtles have consumed plastic – meaning many more could end up suffering the same fate. Meanwhile, an entire garbage truck’s worth of plastic makes its way into the sea every minute. It’s not biodegradable, so it NEVER disappears -- some of the plastic floating around the ocean has been there for over 60 years. It just keeps piling up. If plastic pollution continues at this rate, experts predict that we’ll have more plastic than fish in the sea by 2050. Please, Friend, we’re running out of time to save our oceans from plastics. This not only contributes to global warming – it harms the health of nearby residents who are often low-wealth and/or communities of color. Plastic pollution affects us all, Friend.
