The slaughter of bears must end. Donate $10 today and help us reach our $5,000 goal for wildlife and the planet! Dear Friend, The slaughter of bears must end. These days, food can be hard to come by for endangered wildlife like grizzly bears. So when this grizzly smelled something good, he had to go after it. He couldn’t have known that a hunter was lurking in the trees – waiting to unleash a torrent of bullets that would spell death for this innocent bear. [Friend, no animal deserves this fate. Donate $10 today and help protect our nation’s wildlife and our planet before it’s too late!]( The violence against bears in America is unfathomable. Painful metal clamps leave bears reeling for days on end. Hunting dogs chase them down in an unfair fight. These gruesome deaths are nothing short of inhumane. Now, image for a moment that grizzly bears lost the protections that keep them safe in the lower 48 states. Left and right, grizzlies would be baited, trapped, and murdered in cold blood – just like this innocent Idaho grizzly, who was mistaken for a black bear by state officials. Sadly, this future may be looming. Together with extremist politicians, bloodthirsty hunters are attacking the Endangered Species Act – the law protecting grizzlies. But at Friends of the Earth, we refuse to sit by while our wildlife pays the price for hunters’ sick desire to watch animals die. These deaths are preventable – and we still have the chance to make real change and protect our wildlife and our planet. The attacks on our nation’s wildlife must end. Donate $10 today and help us reach our $5,000 midnight goal for wildlife and our planet. If you've saved payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately: [Donate $10 immediately]( [Donate $27 immediately]( [Donate $50 immediately]( [Donate another amount]( Grizzly bears were once abundant in the continental U.S., with over 50,000 of them roaming their native habitats. But human impact has taken its toll on these iconic animals. Excessive hunting and trapping and habitat loss prompted Endangered Species Act protections for grizzlies in the 1970s – but recovery takes time. And currently, only 4% of their historic population remains. Without adequate ESA protections, trophy hunters could be allowed to kill grizzlies indiscriminately, and with no consequences. And once grizzlies are driven out of their lands, Big Polluters will swoop in. They have hopes to open these lands up for mining, logging, and other planet-harming practices. That would destroy any hope of recovery for grizzlies – including reintroduction to their historic range. Friend, it’s clear that we could lose grizzlies without urgent action. Plain and simple, they can’t afford to lose their life-saving protections. And our planet can’t afford it, either. That’s why we’ve set our $5,000 midnight goal to stop these vicious attacks on our nation’s wildlife and protect our planet. Will you do your part to help strengthen the Endangered Species Act and protect vulnerable wildlife and the planet while there’s still time to act? Please, donate $10 or more by midnight tonight to help us reach our $5,000 goal before grizzlies are wiped off the face of the Earth. If you've saved payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately: [Donate $10 immediately]( [Donate $27 immediately]( [Donate $50 immediately]( [Donate another amount]( It may surprise you to learn that apex predators like grizzly bears play a huge part in a functioning environment. When they hunt, they regulate prey populations – protecting plants from overgrazing. They benefit their entire ecosystem! That’s why it’s so important that grizzlies remain protected under the Endangered Species Act. The Endangered Species Act does more than protect grizzlies. Bedrock laws like this provide critical protection for America’s species and the lands they roam. They’re also some of our most effective safeguards against megapolluting industries that put profit over a livable climate, healthy ecosystems, and the lives of critical species. At Friends of the Earth, we’re working to strengthen the Endangered Species Act and all of the wildlife that depends on it. Supporters like you have shown up with us time and time again – sending comments to your legislators urging them to protect this vital legislation. With your continued help, we’re pushing back against attacks on the Endangered Species Act and the greedy corporations that want to dismantle it. But there’s still work to be done, Friend. Your membership support to Friends of the Earth today will help fuel our work to hold Big Polluters accountable, stop them from exploiting wildlife and pristine landscapes for profit, and protect the only Earth we call home. So please, act now for our planet and precious wildlife before they are hunted to extinction, and rush your $10 gift today! Grizzlies are hanging on by a thread. Rush your $10 donation to fight for wildlife and our planet and help us reach our $5,000 goal by midnight TONIGHT!
