URGENT PLASTIC PETITION: Our oceans, bodies, and planet are facing a PLASTIC CRISIS. Act now to demand the EPA execute immediate federal solutions URGENT PLASTIC PETITION: Our oceans, bodies, and planet are facing a PLASTIC CRISIS.  [Act now to demand the EPA execute immediate federal solutions >>]( Friend, imagine planning a beach day with your friends. You all are excited to build massive sandcastles together, dip into the cool ocean water, and bask in the summer sun. It’s going to be a good day! As you approach the ocean shore, you notice debris amongst the golden sand, but it does not seem to be seaweed, shells, or driftwood. You discover that the beach is covered with PLASTIC WASTE. You stumble through piles of trash to make it to the ocean. Only to discover that the water is POLLUTED with plastic bottles, bags, and scraps.   This is serious, Friend… really serious! Our oceans are at risk of becoming a PLASTIC JUNKYARD. Every minute, a garbage truck’s worth of plastic is washed into the ocean. Imagine swimming amongst TRUCKLOADS of plastic! Innocent baby sea turtles are mistaking plastic for food—plastic is CHOKING them and PIERCING their tiny throats. Dolphins confuse plastic scraps for squid which disrupts their digestive systems. It only takes ONE single piece of plastic to KILL a sea turtle, a dolphin, a seal… [There is only one planet Earth, Friend, and we’re at risk of destroying it if we do not DEMAND federal solutions FAST. We need 2,635 signatures from to SAVE our oceans, marine animals, and the planet >>]( [SIGN THE PETITION]( Big Plastic, the petrochemical companies that make these throw-away products, are not only exploiting our oceans for profit and greed, but also our very own communities and our bodies. Industrial-sized plastic factories are spewing harmful emissions into the environment and forcing toxic cancer-causing pollutants into nearby communities—most often in low-income communities and communities of color.  Even if you don’t live next door to Big Plastic, you can’t escape its reach. Plastic that covers our shores, ocean floors, and lands is not biodegradable, so it NEVER DISAPPEARS. Every single piece of plastic that was ever made STILL EXISTS in some smaller form. Microplastic is being found in our water, food, air, and even breastmilk! [As we enjoy being outside and in the ocean this summer, let’s think about the potential of our planet being destroyed by plastic pollution. YOU can help change this future. Sign the petition NOW to demand an END plastic pollution before it is too late!]( [SIGN THE PETITION]( Thank you for taking a stand against plastic polluters, Friends of the Earth Contact Us: Friends of the Earth U.S. Washington, D.C. | Berkeley, CA PO Box 7010 Merrifield, VA 22116-7010 1-877-843-8687 [Contact us](foe.org/about-us/contact/) Email Preferences: [Click here to unsubscribe]( Learn more: www.foe.org/news www.foe.org/about-us www.foeaction.org Connect: [Facebook]( [Twitter]( [Flickr]( © 2024, Friends of the Earth.
