[YES]( [NO]( **This link has been generated specifically for {EMAIL}. Please do not share. Deadline for responses: 11:59 p.m. We’re heartbroken, friend. We’re losing sea otters to pollution-driven sickness and death – and greedy cruise companies are part of the problem. Southern sea otters occupy only about 13% of their historic range! Unless we act, otters could fall victim to the biodiversity crisis wiping precious wildlife from the face of the Earth. Here’s a huge part of the problem: Ships the size of city blocks are dumping TOXIC waste into the marine habitats otters need to thrive. This leads to ILLNESS, REPRODUCTIVE STRESS and POPULATION DECLINE in this beloved species. Right now, it’s still technically ILLEGAL to dump garbage in international waters. But reckless cruise companies are pushing the law aside and doing it anyway. These companies may face fines as a result, but that’s only a minor consequence compared to the industry’s massive profits. That means Big Cruise can easily PAY OFF TO POLLUTE our planet and get away with it – and marine wildlife like beloved otters are suffering and DYING as a result. But it gets worse. Weak and inconsistent regulations mean that cruise ships are dumping HAZARDOUS WASTE – like human sewage and wastewater that is highly acidic and contains bacteria, viruses and toxic pollutants – directly into our fragile oceans. The result can be oxygen-depleting algae blooms that destroys marine ecosystems and the human livelihoods that rely on them. Chronic wastewater dumping is also creating widespread contamination of the food web, POISONING otters and other priceless marine life. To top it all off, ocean vessels like cruise ships release 100 MILLION gallons of petroleum into our oceans EVERY YEAR, directly threatening the survival of sick, weakened, and poisoned otter populations. We can’t stand aside while the cruise industry puts otters’ survival at risk and poisons the marine food web that so many communities depend on worldwide. But we need to know where our supporters stand as we fight the cruise industry’s reckless pollution.
