We'll cut right to it. Yesterday, we fell short of our crucial World Oceans Day goal. We'll cut right to it. Yesterday, we fell short of our crucial World Oceans Day goal. But we can't afford to give up on our efforts to protect invaluable oceans and our planet: So, we extended our goal until midnight TONIGHT to fight back against Big Cruise and protect people and our planet! WORLD OCEANS DAY GOAL: FELL SHORT [Donate Now]( In 2022, ONE-SIXTH of all Florida manatees suffered agonizing deaths to starvation and corporate pollution. Last year wasn’t much better – making the last two years the deadliest on record for these gentle sea cows. The tragedy is still playing out: this year, at least 298 manatees have perished from the same causes. The cruise industry is mercilessly contributing to the manatee death rate with reckless wastewater dumping and massive CO2 emissions. They spew huge quantities of TOXIC sludge and acidic wastewater directly into fragile ocean habitats. This harmful pollution feeds destructive algae blooms that KILL manatees’ primary food source, seagrass. While cruise companies cut costs by polluting our oceans, manatees pay the price in painful starvation and death! We MUST hold Big Cruise and corporate polluters accountable for the damage they are causing to our marine life and the health of people and the planet. That’s why Friends of the Earth is counting on your support to make up the gap for World Oceans Day. We only have until midnight tonight to catch up, Friend. Please, don’t wait: Will you make a membership gift of $10 or more now to help us get back on track and protect our oceans, people, and our planet before it’s too late? The people living there are TRAPPED, breathing in this hazardous waste. They can suffer higher rates of respiratory disease like asthma as a result. The longer the cruise industry operates recklessly, the worse the problem becomes. And right now, Big Cruise is growing so fast that governments have struggled to regulate it. Cruise companies are exploiting weak rules to get away with even more dumping – and are SUING to block coastal communities' rights to demand health protections. The cruise industry has gone TOO FAR. For the sake of our oceans, people, and our planet, we MUST fight back now! Friends of the Earth is dedicated to holding the greedy cruise industry accountable for its ecological devastation. We’re demanding proper regulations for massive cruise ships and fighting to see them enforced – so mega-polluters don’t get away with barely a slap on the wrist. That’s why reaching our ambitious World Oceans Day goal is so important – and with the stakes so high for our planet, your support today is crucial. We can’t afford to miss this goal again, Friend. Please, donate $10 or more before our extension ends at midnight to help us close the gap to our $55,000 World Oceans Day goal for the sake of our oceans, people and the only Earth we’ve got!
