VC + Startups 🎯 - Equals, a San Francisco-based startup aiming to challenge Excel’s dominance with a supercharged spreadsheet raises $16 million. Its spreadsheets incorporate data analytics and collaboration features. c - Worldr, a London-based startup on a mission to build privacy, security, and compliance layers for popular communication tools, raises €11 million to meet the growing demand for its zero-trust architecture. c - EdgeDB, a database startup was able to raise an additional €15 million through the help of Nava Ventures and Accel. The startup aims to make coding more accessible. - Yassir, an Algerian-based startup running an online marketplace offering on-demand services (food and grocery delivery, transportation, and financial services) raises $150 million from BOND, a Silicon Valley VC. - Altar, a Stockholm-based startup that has been developing an application programming interface that facilitates bank-to-bank payments for European businesses, raises €5 million from Index Ventures. Crypto 👾 - NCSoft, an online videogame publisher and developer has invested USD300 million in Mysten Labs, the creator of the nascent Sui blockchain and said that the companies will collaborate on projects. c - OpenSea, the leading NFT marketplace said it will continue to enforce creator royalty fees, after suggesting otherwise and facing pushback. c - Crypto service providers were quick to claim 'no exposure' to bankrupt FTX. Meanwhile, Singapore-based exchange crypto.com paused withdrawals of stablecoins USDC and USDT on the Solana blockchain. Law and regulation 🕵️ - EU antitrust regulators are opening a full-scale investigation into Microsoft's $69 billion bid for Activision Blizzard. c - US securities regulator highlighted that the FTX turmoil underscored industry risks.
