It's a simple, friendly question, and when I ask my coworkers spread across the country, we typically have a pretty mixed basket of responses. But this year it has seemed notably unpredictable and dynamic. In Colorado alone this week, it was in the mid-60s one day, and snowing the next! Which made me reflect today a bit... that life can be a lot like the weather. Unexpected changes, unforeseen opportunities—both seemingly good and seemingly bad—can happen really at any time. The way I approach that fact is to try to give it my all, every day, and to keep my eyes open to the opportunities that might be around me. I also try to embrace surprises, to keep in mind that "good" and "bad" are sometimes more about timing, and try to at least occasionally get out of my comfort zone. Broaden my horizons, so to speak. :-) In a job search, this is important too. Whether you're looking for a new job, a different job, a better job, or just any job, remind yourself to [get out of your comfort zone from time to time](.
