If you just joined Fat Stacks, about some clown lawyer who came after me for $150K in punitive damag

If you just joined Fat Stacks, [here's a link to my recent email](=) about some clown lawyer who came after me for $150K in punitive damages and other damages. It was a popular email. It's okay to change the way you do things... necessary actually Things change in this biz. I've had to adapt so many times over the years, I've lost count. I started my first blog with Site Build It software. It was good back in the day but not long after, the writing was on the wall that WordPress was the way to go. It was a hassle switching, but I did. I adapted. Before the first Google Penguin update, I built links like crazy. That was how sites ranked. After Penguin, I stopped. I adapted. For a time I focused on Facebook traffic. It was easy and plentiful. Somewhere along the line Facebook diminished page reach. I adapted. I used to earn most of my revenue with affiliate marketing. I ended up in a niche where affiliate marketing wasn't working. I placed ads on the site which earned very well (still does). I adapted. Had I not adapted over the years, I wouldn't be working online. I wouldn't be working at all. One must adapt in any type of work or industry. That's life. When AI content first hit the scene, I was not impressed. I said so. Actually, I didn't say too much about it. I kept testing waiting for when it would be good. That time is now. It is good. I still work with writers and will for the foreseeable future but I'm using AI content where it makes sense. I adapted. I'm not the only person who thinks AI content is good, especially with tools like Koala. Here are some unsolicited emails from readers who bought the [Koala lifetime deal](): Holy Shit. Whoever programmed this is a genius. I have not been as excited by something online since a friend told me to start a youtube channel in 2009 about applying make up. I didn't oh how I wish I did!! So this time I am all in. Thanks Jon, you're just awesome. ************** Hey Jon, Thanks so much for sharing! Joined this morning and that tool is amazing. I played around with other AI writers and also use OpenAi, but I'm in a pretty difficult niche, with my very own take on the subject, so it's hard to get usable content. But Koala is amazing and such a time saver. ************** Hi John, Thank you for these updates. I just wanted to say that Koala did pass Originality test for me and I was super impressed and excited. It scored only 4% for AI (96% human-written) and 7% plagiarized, but it passed 100% Copyscape . And one needs specific knowledge to write good articles in my niche. I really couldn't believe how good the content was. If the other articles are like that, it would be a life saver. I was on maternity leave and currently working only a few hours a day, so I hope this will be my solution to revive my blog. Just thought I could share this in case you wish to mention to others sometimes 'Nuff said. I could add more but you get the point. => [Get the Koala lifetime deal here]() The 30% discount ends soon. Soon is Monday, March 27 at midnight Pacific time. My traffic tanked thanks to being Serp-Jacked This is the third time in my online career something like this has happened... at least that I discovered. I believe it explains the dramatic traffic crash for one of my smaller niche sites. That or the 5,000 link package I bought for $100 in the Summer. Haha, kidding. As "tempting" as those link packages are, I decided not to. It's actually not that small of a site. Pre-jack it did $125 to $300 per day with traffic ranging 5,000 to 9,000 visits per day. It's a seasonal site so ranges are wide. Every day that this site is crushed thanks to the high-jacking is costing me. While it's cleaned up now, traffic is still low. I suspect it'll take a bit of time for traffic to rebound, if it does. I could be wrong and the site just took a random beating in another random update. Fortunately, it wasn't my biggest site (a silver lining I don't take for granted). What is SERP-jacking? It can take several forms but in my case it was the parasite hosting variety. What happens is the bad actor (the jacker) adds content to existing pages or creates new pages on a domain and redirects to their site. In my case, it was an adult site. From a practical stand point, How did I discover it? Once again I was on the receiving end of yet another infringement email. This one was much better but still it's never pleasant to see "infringement" in an email subject. The odds of what happened that lead to me learning of the SERP-jack are astonishingly low... I consider myself fortunate. It was thanks to a trademark holder who told me I was infringing his trademark that tipped me off. Some of the content maliciously injected onto my site infringed a trademark of his dating site. He contacted me saying I infringed. I have to say he was super cool about it. Not like the trolls who come out swinging threatening this and threatening that. This guy took the time explaining it looked like a SERP jack situation. He asked that I clean it up and they'd be happy. I responded that I was on it and thanked him for the details. I contacted my hosting ([Rocket.net](=)) and provided all the info I was given by the person who alerted me to it. Rocket had it cleaned up in 24 hours. Apparently it was a "sneaky" attack that took some digging to find. Once found, they removed it What does this mean for you? I'm sure you don't care I was SERP Jacked. What you care about is what this means for you. I'll tell ya because it's a good reminder. - Keep your plugins, WP version and theme updated. - Implement 2-factor login. - Run malware scans periodically. This stuff can be happening and you'll never know. The sad thing is even if you're diligent with all this stuff, it can still happen. I've had malicious links injected into content. This kind isn't as bad as the one I just had but it's not good. One time my entire site was taken over. It was so egregious Google deindexed it. Nothing sets a fire under you to clean up malware like a sitewide deindexing by the big G. That one took several weeks to clean up and then several weeks for Google to reindex. Fortunately, my rankings restored (which I thought was pretty fortunate at the time). Nothing puts me to sleep more than website security talk... until there's a problem. Then I scramble. Add it to your list of things to check if your traffic takes a beating Of course, the traffic drop could be something else but I'm optimistic it's thanks to the jacking. For all I know, my site could have been high-jacked for a long time and it wasn't until the update that Google crushed it. Time will tell. I've done all I can for now. In the meantime it's publish, publish, publish with Koala Writer. I'm going to town with it and saving money. You can do the same. => [Get the Koala lifetime deal here]() The 30% discount ends Monday, March 27 at midnight Pacific time.
