We rearranged our living room in our house, moving the TV from one end of the room to the other, and I canât tell you how massive the consequences have been. The TV now sits far from the cable outlet in our house, and because I refuse to have coaxial cable running across the floor or even along the walls, I am now experiencing life without cable for the first time in many decades. But lo and behold, I was still able to watch football and the US Open, and catch up on a lot of TV I used to ignore by just passively throwing on something airing on cable. I even found one of those fake âliveâ channels that stream only Family Feud reruns and watched that for an hour. Is this what freedom feels like? Am I a cord-cutter now? Can I actually live like this? Was it that easy? Stay tuned to find out. Hereâs what to watch this weekend. -Tim Your Watch This Now! newsletter is created by Senior Recommendations and Reviews Editor Tim Surette and more show-obsessed editors at TV Guide! TUESDAY ON HALLMARK+ [The Chicken Sisters launches Hallmark+]( I saw a store the other day that already had Christmas stuff for sale. Itâs September! The real world is not ready for that yet. However, the streaming world is, and Tuesday marks the launch of the Hallmark+ streaming service, where Hallmarkâs treasure trove of Christmas movies can be watched all year round. Hallmark+ essentially replaces Hallmark Movies Now, and will feature exclusive original shows and movies, like The Chicken Sisters, an adaptation of KJ Dell'Antonia's best-selling novel, and Celebrations With Lacey Chabert, a reality series in which Lacey Chabert surprises those who make an impact in their community. Hallmark+ will also offer bonus perks for subscribers, such as discounts to Hallmark merch, free greeting cards, and more. [Hereâs everything to know about Hallmark+](
SEASON 2 PREMIERES THURSDAY AT 10/9C ON FX, FRIDAY ON HULU [The Old Man wakes up from a two-year nap]( One of FX's biggest shows of 2022 is about to become one of FX's biggest shows of 2024. The twisty first season of The Old Man ended with on-the-run former CIA agent Dan Chase (Jeff Bridges) catching up with former friend and pursuer Harold Harper (John Lithgow), bringing together the two acting titans to finally share the screen after many episodes of "catch me if you can." In Season 2, the duo are paired up for the whole season as they try to rescue their "daughter" (Alia Shawkat) from her biological father, the terrorist Faraz Hamzad (Navid Negahban), while battling younger whippersnappers and hostile agents, both foreign and domestic. While The Old Man is hard to take your eyes off of because of the twists and performances, Liam Mathews [says in his review]( that itâs merely an OK show going undercover as a good one.
SERIES PREMIERES FRIDAY ON HULU [How to Die Alone is funnier than it sounds]( The White Lotus' Natasha Rothwell co-created, with Vera Santamaria, this comedy about an employee at JFK (Rothwell) who has never been in love and decides to change her life after a near-death experience. The title makes it sound like a dour time, but it's actually a reaffirming series about living your life. Itâs one of [many promising new shows coming this fall season]( SUNDAY AT 8 PM ET/5 PM PT ON ABC [The Emmys!]( Did you know that the Emmys are named after âImmy,â the nickname for the image-orthicon camera tube, a key technological advance from the 1940s that helped create the television? Now you do. This yearâs ceremony, hosted by Eugene and Dan Levy, features frontrunners ShÅgun, The Bear, Only Murders in the Building, True Detective: Night Country, The Crown, and, for some reason, The Morning Show.
