"Space matters a lot, and it can diminish or supplement human energy." – Richard Sheridan ($$$$) [Image]( MAKE IT OOZE YOUR ONE WORD This is for you... {NAME}. #Awesome environment - Roberto Blake ($) - “My intention is to create #Awesome content, so I make it easy for me to do that at any moment. My environment is prepared with props and triggers for consistent, reliable, #Awesome results. My camera is always ready to film, so I can step in at any time to create video. A huge white board and calendar helps keep a space for my ideas and organization.” #Family environment - Sharon Galor ($$) - “Students are welcomed as soon as they walk in. A television in the lobby is set up to play video of the volunteer Helpers having a good time. There’s also an event-board, where we post studio happenings and community events. Students can add their own notices, like personal gatherings and selling their old dance shoes. The studios themselves are airy rooms with mirrors. They have an intimate feeling, but they’re not crowded at all. I shopped around for months to find just the right floors that were designed to slip. This really helps beginners so they are able to spin easily, regardless of their experience or proper dance shoes.” #Extraordinary environment - Mark Drager ($$$) - “I asked my team what kind of environment would produce #Extraordinary work. The old office was completely open, and I would often to go to Starbucks if I needed a private meeting. Once we realized that having open and closed formats would work best, we created the new space split with a main open area for collaborations, as well as some separate smaller rooms so people can work quietly.” #Joy environment - Richard Sheridan ($$$$) - “There’s no secret hiding place at Menlo. Our place is an open environment designed for communication. Psychologists have proved this won’t work in an environment which is about 80% introverts, but it does! Everyone works in a ginormous space with no cubicle walls, in a basement of about 18,000 sq feet. Tables are clustered together, organized in groups by client projects. My team is encouraged to change and move the layout of the tables however they want, and they often do. Because the tables are pushed together, they are working shoulder to shoulder. You can easily overhear other people in the same group. This means they don’t gossip, and are more likely to be tolerant and respectful.” #Honest environment - Christopher Gavigan ($$$$$) - “My #Honest team thinks of colleagues as a second family. This is a place of relationships and friendships. There are times when we spend more time here than with our family. Connectivity is important, and without offices or cubicles, it’s inevitable and easy. My co-founder, Jessica Alba, has also influenced the space with a feminine, fun touch.” Now that your team has a great environment you can give them rituals to strengthen the bond to your company and each other.
