As lawmakers, members of Congress have access to behind-the-scenes information weeks and months before it hits newsstands, giving them ample time to sell off or buy up in their own interests. We saw this happen right before our own eyes at the dawn of the pandemic. They’re using Congressional knowledge to make themselves richer and line their wallet. Even though there may be legislation on the books to prevent this, recent investigations have shown that these laws have been broken hundreds of times, by members of BOTH parties. Everyone is turning a blind eye to what’s happening. In classic fashion, party leadership is standing in the way of a simple fix to prevent our Representatives from using insider knowledge to make themselves richer.
