I just returned from a 6-week hiatus and have been busily painting away. Many of you have heard that my return to the easel will be brief, with my adventure across France kicking off in two short weeks! I have spent the past five years mapping out a route to retrace Monet's and van Gogh's footsteps. The route takes me from Paris to Giverny, Etretat to Le Havre, the Loire Valley into Arles and Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer, and everywhere in between. I will have the honor of standing in the very spots where the great masters stood and being inspired by the same views that captured Monet's and van Gogh's imagination. I hope you enjoy my most recent works and continue to follow along with my many adventures. Enjoy! Erin Fresh from the Easel "Coastal Poppies V " Original Oil Painting by Erin Hanson 2024 30 x 40 in $25,000 Highway 1 has been an endless source of inspiration for me as a painter. I first started painting the crystal turquoise waters of the Pacific Ocean about twelve years ago when I started exploring Paso Robles and the coastal region between Hearst Castle and Big Sur. I love painting swirling waves of white sea foam against aquamarine water. When orange poppies bloom along Highway 1, there is even more color to inspire me. The miniature, star-shaped leaves were like a delicate veil of filigree overhead, held up by graceful branches. This abstract impressionist painting captures the beauty of the Japanese maple tree in the springtime. This piece captures the cherry trees that grow along a riverbed in Kyoto. The Yoshino cherry tree's artistic branches and delicate pink and white blooms are a joy to paint. This Japanese cherry blossom painting is available for purchase by master impressionist Erin Hanson. Canvas prints and 3D Textured Replicas are also available in various sizes and framing options. This is a painting of a sunflower bouquet gathered from my field. I searched for heirloom seeds that would grow the large-headed sunflowers that make such great paintings. I draped an orange cloth behind the sunflowers for a moody, impressionistic look. My brush strokes are laid down in thick, expressive strokes, and I used a limited palette of only five oil paint colors. This is Erin's first return to St. George since 2016. The exhibition will include thirty paintings of southern Utah and the Colorado Plateau. Hanson works in bold colors, thickly applied paint, and expressive brushwork, capturing the drama and beauty of the American West. Initially inspired by rock climbing at Red Rock Canyon, Erin Hanson has been painting the desert landscapes of southern Utah and the Colorado Plateau for the past fifteen years. She uses a limited palette of only five colors, and after pre-mixing her entire palette, she paints without overlapping her brush strokes, keeping her pieces fresh and alive with movement. Hanson’s goal when painting is to re-capture the feeling of being out-of-doors, surrounded by the wild beauty of nature.
