Those values fueled my start in public service and will continue to be my priority. Unfortunately, the results of the midterm election show that my campaign was not able to overtake my extremist Republican opponent, Anna Paulina Luna, at the ballot box, especially after the illegally gerrymandered district gave her and the Republicans an 11 percent swing from the 2020 boundaries. These are difficult results to hear, and I know many of my supporters and voters across the country are saddened and deeply worried by another district flipping red this election season. It is worrisome and deeply concerning that Pinellas will now be represented by an extremist like Luna. Yet, this election was about more than just me and my opponent. It was about fighting for progress not hate, inclusion not discrimination, and democracy not dictatorship. Those goals don't end here, and I will continue to be in that fight. I am so proud of everyone in Pinellas who showed up at the polls, knocked on doors, called their friends and neighbors, contributed to our campaign and did whatever they could to protect our community from an extremist Republican takeover. I believe in the work that we accomplished during this campaign. I'll still be standing with you shoulder to shoulder, fighting for the issues that we all care about: an economy that works for everyone and worker's rights, reproductive health, our environment and climate action, improved education, veterans’ support, and protecting our democracy. Thank you for your support throughout this campaign, and let's continue fighting. With my deepest appreciation, Eric Lynn Eric Lynn is a former Senior Advisor to President Obama, national security expert, small business owner, community advocate, and St. Petersburg Native who is ready to lead Pinellas County forward.
