Under mentorship by Irene Liao and advisement by Monica Barsever, the group started their research by collecting botanical samples at the Huntington Botanical Gardens and are now culturing microbes from nectar, extracting and sequencing DNA from these microbes, and running other tests to contribute to novel botanical research.
