5 Uncomfortable Truths About Music In 2024

The truth is, most people won't make any changes in the New Year. They'll have all of the motivation for the first few days, but then fall back into existing habits and in a few weeks time, be frustrated with what they could've done 🤷 This got me thinking into the truths about music... Most people don't want to think about the truths because they generally can be perceived to be quite negative, but I think a lot of truths can be incredibly empowering... Here are the 5 truths that can set you free today 👇 Number one... People don't care about what you're doing as much as you think they do. This is SO IMPORTANT! Most of the time we're held back because we think people care about what we're up to. And the truth is... They don't. People care about themselves and you'll be surprised how little you feature. This is a GOOD THING! It means you can post about your music and talent and not be worried that people are going to judge you... Even if they do judge you the first time, they forget about it pretty quickly. You just have to care about yourself and do what is right for you :) Up next... Like life, the music industry isn't fair This can be a tough truth. Would it be great if it was "fair"? Sure, but it's just not realistic. Some people are born with insane amounts of talent, others have to work harder at it. You just need to be aware of this truth and use it to your advantage, as you can make things sway unfairly in your favour too. Thirdly... Motivation means nothing, it's all about execution This is the most important one for the New Year. Motivation means NOTHING unless you take action and do something about it. To change this means changing your habits to make it difficult for you to not do something, as it's the consistency and showing up every day that makes the difference, NOT the motivation to do so. You can achieve everything you want to achieve and not feel motivated at all - so stop placing too much importance on motivation. Keyboard warriors are incredibly unhappy We've all put things out into the world, had someone say something incredibly nasty about it and had it ruin our day. I've lost count of the number of times I've been called various names and whilst I do bite occasionally... I've come to the realisation that people who spew hate over the internet are just incredibly unhappy. You can't put anything out into the world that people love, without also accepting there will be hate too. And lastly... You choose your hard This is more one for life than music to finish. Life is hard, but you get the opportunity to choose which hard it will be. Do you take action today, wake up earlier, work harder and stay more consistent? Or do you leave it for another day, don't achieve what you want to achieve and then live with the regret? Both options are hard and you get to choose which one it is. Secondly... Write your goals down and review them often. Don't just think about your goals, put them in writing. This will help you solidify them in your mind and make them feel more real. Break them down into smaller, more manageable steps, and tackle them one at a time. This will help you stay on track and make progress. Thirdly... Find someone to provide accountability and support. A friend, family member, or professional coach can all provide encouragement and accountability to help you achieve your goals. Having someone to support you and keep you motivated can make all the difference. Up next... Be willing to make adjustments. Life is unpredictable, and your goals may need to change along the way. Be flexible and open to making adjustments as needed in order to stay on track and achieve your goals. Don't be afraid to reassess your goals and make changes to your plan as needed. And lastly...
