7 ways to stop comparing yourself to others

Comparison really is the thief of joy. You make a song, put it out and are really proud of it. Then you look at someone else online who you think is doing "better" than you are and then all of the pride drains away and it turns into anxiety. In this email I'm going to give you 7 ways to help when you feel this way. Firstly... Numbers are JUST numbers. In 2023, they can be faked very easily. Don't believe everything you see, you think an artist may be "smashing the numbers", but you don't have the full context. Next up... Everyone is on a different journey and experiences highs and lows at different times. Being aware of this allows you to look at it more objectively. Thirdly... Instead of letting comparison give you anxiety, try and approach it with a positive mindset of how it can inspire and motivate you. Take ideas and roll with them. Up next... You just don't know what's going on behind the scenes. Social media doesn't give you the full picture about anyone's success, happiness or life. Number 5... Be aware of your triggers. If scrolling social media at 11PM affects you more than scrolling for research purposes (new ideas etc) at 11AM, then kick the phone at 11PM. Then... Define what success and happiness means to you. Grab a pen and paper and write down your top 5 priorities for your life, this will help you feel more grounded in your decision making. And lastly... Accept that we all compare ourselves to an extent and don't beat yourself up over it. It's a part of life, just be aware and recognise when it's not serving you.
