DTC 573 - Walmart Realm 3D Ecommerce, Hexclad, and GA4 Google Sheets Hack Wednesday, June 5, 2024 Go

DTC 573 - Walmart Realm 3D Ecommerce, Hexclad, and GA4 Google Sheets Hack Wednesday, June 5, 2024 Good morning, Rumor has it TikTok is working hard on cloning its recommendations algorithm before the U.S. ban. What this means: This could potentially result in a new version of the popular app that operates independently from its parent company, ByteDance, and circumvents U.S. concerns about data privacy and safety. Here’s what you’ll find in today’s DTC: 🪙 Take a tour of Walmart Realm and see how the retailer used 3D ecommerce to disrupt the online shopping experience. 🍳 We chatted with Cam Bush from Hexclad about creating an omnichannel strategy and how partnering with Gordon Ramsay improved their brand authority. 🔧 This handy feature just dropped in GA4, making it easier to analyze your data. You’re reading this newsletter along with new subscribers from: MALIN + GOETZ, Blanton & Sons, and Tru Earth. 👋 INNOVATION 🪙 Walmart Realm: An Immersive 3D Ecommerce Experience Now you can make your ecommerce experience more immersive and engaging than ever before with 3D ecommerce. Walmart recently launched [Walmart Realm](, which walks an online shopper through multiple different online spaces inspired by social trends by Pinterest Predicts using 3D ecommerce. The retailer created three make-believe worlds: an underwater experience with jelly aquatic creatures, ‘Go Chromatic’ a futuristic metallic environment set in outer space, and a Wild Wild West meets gothic glam landscape. Online visitors who explore these virtual worlds can see 3D renderings of Walmart products that match these unique aesthetics, play games, and collect ‘Sparks’ (represented by the Walmart logo). Collect enough Sparks and you can unlock a discount code. [Walmart Realm rewards visitors for collecting ‘Sparks’ and provides a unique discount code] What’s 3D ecommerce? Instead of using static images to show off your product assortment, 3D ecommerce uses three-dimensional digital models of products. The benefit is shoppers can visualize what the product will look like in real life and interact with it online before making a purchase. Pros and cons of using 3D ecommerce Implementing 3D ecommerce can increase customer time spent on the page and also increase conversions. 😲 Shopify merchants who use 3D content see [on average an increase in conversions by 94%](. However, including 3D can be costly and take up a lot of space, potentially slowing down your site speed. Also, this technology is not suitable for all audiences. Consider whether your shoppers would be interested in using this technology or if it would be overwhelming or frustrating for the user who is used to a more traditional ecommerce site experience. Since Walmart hopes to attract Gen Z and Gen Alpha with this new shopping experience, using 3D ecommerce makes sense since these users can navigate this innovative landscape without much training.
