{NAME} – I'm Gretchen Whitmer, the governor of Michigan. I needed to reach out right away about the outrageous voter suppression bill that was just signed into law in Georgia – a bill that the GOP is now trying to replicate here in Michigan. Republicans introduced 39 bills in the Michigan Legislature last month aimed at creating as many voting barriers as possible for the folks in our state. What's happening in Michigan and Georgia is happening all across our country. So far this year, Republicans have introduced 361 restrictive voter suppression bills in 47 states. After the GOP lost big in the 2020 elections because of historic voter turnout, they decided to silence voters – especially Black and brown voters – altogether undermining the core of our very democracy as long as it helps them win elections. With so many pivotal races coming up between now and 2022, we need to fight back with everything we've got. But it's going to take all of us standing together, so I need at least 10,000 people to let me know if they're with me before midnight tonight, and I'm counting on your response. Please, let me know now: Will you stand with me in the fight against voter suppression? [YES]( [NO]( It means the world to have you with us. Thank you so much.
