Someone with experience navigating Harrisburg and the requisite independence to take on any person or organization that is harming the public welfare in the commonwealth. That candidate is Democrat Eugene DePasquale. His calm, confident demeanor and demonstrated competence make him the best choice for the office,” the Inquirer wrote. [This is a huge, momentum-building moment for our campaign. With voters already receiving their mail-in ballots — and polls showing a statistically tied race — we can’t waste any time getting the news about this endorsement out to voters across Pennsylvania. Will you rush a 2X-matched donation today and help us share the big news?]( [Donate →]( [Donate Weekly →]( As the Inquirer wrote, the Office of Attorney General is one of the most powerful elected positions in the state – and I’ve got the résumé for the job. I’ve worked in economic development for the city of York, served in the General Assembly, worked as a law professor, and spent two terms as Auditor General. And as your Auditor General, I investigated the state Department of Environmental Protection’s lax oversight of Marcellus Shale drilling, pushed to reduce the backlog of thousands of rape kits that had gone untested by law enforcement, and released a report with ways to curb gun violence after the mass shooting at the Tree of Life synagogue in Pittsburgh. The Inquirer laid it out clearly — my opponent’s “limited experience as a county prosecutor simply does not match up to DePasquale’s track record.” But here’s the troubling truth: My opponent and I are in a statistical tie, and he has a billionaire backer, as well as shady PACs behind him who have funneled over $12 million into this race to try to boost him in the polls. So even with this critical endorsement, in a race that is this close, with so much outside spending, it’s going to take everything we’ve got to get to the finish line.
