Last year, we launched Democrats Serve PAC to help Democratic candidates with public service backgrounds — firefighters, educators, nurses, first responders, social workers, judges, prosecutors, public defenders, police officers, and more — run for office and win elections. It’s been a wild ride. Here are some of the highlights from our collective work since May 19, 2021: - We’ve endorsed 61 candidates (27 in 2021 and 34 in 2022). - Of those candidates, 34 have appeared on a ballot so far (27 in 2021 and 7 in 2022). - 34-0. Every candidate we’ve endorsed who has appeared on a ballot has won. - Patch reporter Scott Benjamin said it best: “Although it was established just last May, Democrats Serve has a won-loss record that is the envy of any college basketball team.” Because of generous supporters like you, we’re putting hundreds of thousands of dollars to work supporting Democrats running for office with public service backgrounds nationwide. It’s been a great year. Let’s celebrate our successes to date. And we’ve got a lot of work ahead. Now more than ever, we need to elect Democrats who not only understand the struggles that working-class families are facing every single day in communities nation wide, but also embrace a pragmatic approach to governing and know how to get things done. We’ve come so far but still have so far to go. [Would you pitch in $10 in honor of our one-year anniversary today? Democrats Serve is a national organization that backs Democrats running for office with frontline public service backgrounds, including first responders, firefighters, social workers, police officers, prosecutors, judges, public defenders, educators, and more. Democratic candidates with professional experience serving their communities in government have a pragmatic approach to governing and know how to get things done, making for strong narratives and an ability to connect with voters uniquely. However, when running for office, they often lack access to the professional campaign staff and wealthy donor networks that non-working class candidates do.
