In fewer than two weeks, I'll be on the ballot in the final race of these midterm elections: the U.S. Senate runoff in Mississippi. [Democrats][Join us.] Friend -- In fewer than two weeks, I'll be on the ballot in one of the final races of these midterm elections: the U.S. Senate runoff in Mississippi. In a moment, I'd like to ask you to support my campaign, but first, I want to tell you a little bit about why I'm running. My grandfather was born as the son of slaves. He lived in one of the most dangerous times to be an African-American in Mississippi. Yet he defied the odds and led his community with courage and resolve. He built a health insurance company, thirty-six funeral homes, a newspaper that boasted a circulation of 100,000 subscribers, and a hospital, in which my twin sister and I were born. He didn't let any of the hate or division he faced stop him. He simply had too much work to do. I believe that our country needs more leaders like my grandfather -- leaders who will focus on bringing us together, not dividing us. With your support, I will work every day to be such a leader in the Senate. There are only 10 days left before my runoff election, and the polls show we have a real path to victory. Will you make a $10 donation to my campaign and the Democratic Party today? [DONATE: $10]( [DONATE: $25]( [DONATE: $50]( [DONATE: $100]( [DONATE: $200]( [Or donate another amount.]( My core beliefs come from my parents -- and they're what I'll stand up for every day in the United States Senate. I believe in the worth of every Mississippian regardless of age, race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, or varying levels of disability. I believe that God made us all in his image. My role as a public official is not to judge, but to assist every person to reach his or her God-given potential. I stand firmly for civil rights, voting rights, and women's rights because I know that these precious rights were not attained without generational struggle. So many in Mississippi and throughout the nation were killed, bloodied, maimed, and jailed for the simple right to cast a ballot for the candidate of their choice -- a right far too many take for granted today. [This race is a chance to stand up for our shared values -- the last chance we'll get this year. If you're able, please make a $10 donation to my campaign and the Democratic Party to help with our critical get-out-the-vote efforts.]( We can do better. We have to do better. There is no more time for disunity and dysfunction. We simply have too much work to do. Thank you, Mike Mike Espy U.S. Senate candidate, Mississippi P.S. Get-out-the-vote efforts are even more critical in runoff elections like mine -- we have to reach out to as many voters as possible about how, where, and when to cast a ballot. [Please consider supporting my campaign with a $10 donation at this critical moment and to elect Democrats nationwide.]( If you no longer wish to receive emails from the DNC, [submit this form to unsubscribe](.
