{NAME}, Just when we thought we were out, they pulled us back in! DFA endorsed 125 candidates during the midterm elections and 59 of them made it through the primaries and general elections - despite redistricting, confusing, and endlessly changing primary dates. We Saved the Senate, elected some incredible, fresh Gen Z’s, and saved important Establish Justice candidate seats. But our work isn’t done yet. There are two very important runoffs on DFA’s radar: everyone is looking at Georgia’s Senate race to give Democrats the advantage in the Senate, especially since we lost the House (although not by margins some were predicting!). In Austin, DFA supported Daniela Silva, a bright, young, queer, Latina running for Austin City Council in District 3. During the general election, Daniela had multiple opponents. The front-runner, a moderate, outraised her 3:1. Despite that, Daniela came in just two points behind him. The other candidate captured 11 percent of the votes. That candidate is now supporting Daniela. Protecting and preserving our democracy is not easy work - especially with such a tight turnaround and the holiday season. However, we count on you to help inform voters and have meaningful conversations about the importance of their vote. With that, DFA is asking you to commit to our Five Days of Democracy. We’ll kick them off with a DFA Member meeting, where we will hear from speakers on-the-ground about how we can Save the Senate as well as support DFA endorsed candidate, Daniela Silva in Austin. Text with a very high Flesch reading ease score (about 100) is straightforward and easy to read, with short sentences and no words of more than two syllables.
